Incoming Freshmen
« on: August 12, 2016, 09:02:30 AM »
What's up goEMAW? It's Greg and I have been wondering if you all have any do's and don'ts for my freshmen year whether they be things I should do in the MHK area or tips for class? Seeing as how kstate has only said go to class and root for the cats.
Anything is helpful also happy Friday.

If you take decent notes in class DON'T buy books unless you need them to do homework assignments. Most instructors cover everything in class.

Find some place that you can show up to early for a dinner special and have beers.  We used to go to some shithole north and east of the stadium for $5 steaks and $5 pitchers.  Never carded us once and we usually ended up staying the whole night pounding pitchers.

Smuggle an empty bud light bottle into a bar that is busy but doesn't have a door man.  Go up to the bar, set it down, and order another.

DO schedule most classes on Tues/Thurs so you can begin your weekend binging earlier and also enjoy Sunday fun day.

Also, if you do join a frat, make friends outside of the greek system.  Even party with them once or twice.  Then you can experience what their lives are like and it'll make you appreciate the fact that you joined a house much more.

i think you just described the Tuesday special at Rocky Ford Tavern but it was $6 steaks and $2 pitchers in the 90s iirc

If you have to take out money for loans it is good to start working on the principal before you graduate.

Have fun and all that, but if you can grab a little skrilla on the regular to put towards your loans, future Greg will thank you.

Also, try out a few different clubs or organizations and join one. Work your way up into a leadership role. That can be resume gold.
