I am not sure where else to post this.  :runaway:

I am a master at ceramics but... :frown: ...

I just started learning how to play acoustic guitar. I am wondering if there are any others who also play instruments that affect sensation (calluses). I have noticed that the change in sensation in my finger tips. Light/delicate work is what is changing, throwing rims/lids and sculpting facial features.

Any suggestions on how to do both without negatively impacting my pottery/sculpting?

I have a hollow body guitar you can borrow long term that would solve this problem winters.

Dip your fingers in melted butter before a jam session. This worked for me when I had a similar problem with my wood carving

I don't know anything about sculpting or guitar playing but apparently they make these finger condoms for just this reason.

SdK just mentioned to me last weekend that he was struggling with the guitar strings hurting his fingertips as well. I hope you find a good solution.  I wish I could play guitar. I just do piano instead.

Just power through it. It'll take months but the callus will build up and soon you won't even notice the discomfort any more. But you have to practice regularly. Light gauge strings is a good suggestion. Also try coated strings (like Elixr).

I'm not going to watch those movies but canco chicks dig piano.  Guitar is still cooler though and you can't just lug a piano around easily.
