remote medical coding
« on: April 15, 2016, 10:11:41 AM »
so i know a person that knows a person that does remote medical coding from home. this person makes about 50k/year and works 40 hours per week whenever they want. they just have a certain amount of work that they are expected to get done and they just get it done every week.

anyway, I've been thinking over the past year that i have extra time at work and was thinking about picking up a work hobby. like a hobby i can do from work. gardening would be fun but i work inside and wouldn't be allowed to have a garden outside. so for the last year I've been trying to think of other work hobbies, but haven't been able to really come up with any.

then it dawned on me....my work hobby could just be another job. i could take an online class to get certified or whatever and then just get a remote medical coding job. the problem is that they want fulltime coders, not part time and i don't think I'd have enough time to do my actual job and another full time job while at my actual job.

so here's my question-does anyone want to jobshare this thing with me. we create an llc or something. log our own work done each week and then just get paid out for whatever percentage of the work we did.

thoughts? potential issues? suggestions? i mean this seems like a no brainer win/win type of thing.

ok. I've done some more research. it looks like one of us will have to enroll in a class and then past some test to get licensed or whatever. the class runs about 1k. after that we should be able to get a job. take the class together and split the cost? take it separately and each get licensed? one person takes it and gets licensed and the other one pays for the class?  :dunno:

also and this is kind of a crazy thought but bear with me... what if we all did it and then picked a carribean island that was cheap to live on and then we all moved there and just coded and blogged with each other on the beach and internet café all day? i bet we could totally emaw up some small village town in turks and caicos or something.

I think I saw it on "The Social Network".  You just sit at a computer with headphones on and type super duper fast and no one is allowed to bother you.

a quick google search reveals a national average salary to be around 40k and lib and i are somewhere around 2-3 standard deviations above that, so you do the math.

You'd probably have to get an entry level job in an office first. That's no gimmie in itself. Then, you'd probably have to work there for at least couple of years while gaining experience. After that, you might be able to be in the running for a few highly sought after remote positions. But, of course, there's no guarantee that you could ever land one of those.

So, basically, I say go for it!

No need. Wacky already proved he lied once, so he lies all of the time as far as we know.

It says you make 40K working it FT? You might make 5K a year, RD. Unless you stop pulling ppl over for speeding and just work on your laptop the whole time.
