a bus.  their feet.  a bike.

I'm not well versed on the school district that you are talking about but In mhk you have to be two miles away from the school to have bus service as an option. I live 1.2 miles away from my kid's school. I have a first grader. do you recommend he walk or ride a bike?

sure, why not?

it's a mile.  why can't he walk a mile?  i mean, of course not when it's 20 degrees out or raining or whatever.

My wife walks with our younger son and daughter to pick up our oldest son at school.  It's two blocks down the way.  If the weather is bad, she picks him up in our Odyssey.  :D

The bus won't pick up my kid because we're so close, and he's five years old, so he struggles a little bit walking a couple of blocks with a bookbag and his lunch box.

Ridiculous Urban Sprawl
Beige McMansion Land (along with partners Olathe, Lenexa, Shawnee and Leawood)
Overly Planned Subdivision World
HOA Oasis
Good but now stretched Public Works
Relatively Smart Zoning

:barf:

I live in OP right now (at least in apartments, but still), can't wait to remove myself from the cookie cutter lifestyle. Just one subdivision after another.

JoCo is nice because there is an elementary school in practically every neighborhood so kids walking is no problem.

that was in the mid-90's in lyndon, ks. i wouldn't expect many kids to walk to school in 2016. i wasn't judging your decision-making as parent.
