Hillary and others of her ilk are trying to blame Michigan governor, state regulators and any Republican for the lead in the drinking water.  They have no blame.  Blame is on the cheap local leaders who switched from a safe source to suckling raw water out of a cesspool river.  MG should be ashamed.

Flint switched it's water supply to a river in 2014 and the river or old pipes had lead in it. Sometime after this problem was identified Flint switched it's water supply back to Detroit city.

A bunch of leftists like Michael Moore, Hill Rod and that Bern weirdo are attempting to blame the governor for this problem and demanding he resign. Some of the wackiest leftists (Moore included) are demanding he be arrested and charged with crimes like assault and conspiracy (not sure what crime he allegedly conspired to commit, that wasn't reported). They apparently think the governor intentionally poisoned these people. His motive is, of course, unclear.

I don't know if this is really a State issue.  I think the allegation is it took too long for the city to switch back to the original water supply, and the governor had something to do with that.  I'm sure one of the resident leftists can explain why this is a huge cover up, racist and a bunch of other sinister stuff since the governor is a pub, I think.

While it's more of a local issue, lol at reno and FSD commenting on this like they are somehow conscientious environmentalists. I mean, we don't need clean water and air, amirite? BTW FSD I think the real reason why people are pissed at the Gov has nothing to do with politics and everything to do with a state of emergency in Flint and the gov not responding to the people's request for help sooner, not some convoluted red vs blue bs you constantly try to make everything to be.

JAN. 5: Snyder declares a state of emergency in Flint, the same day federal officials confirm that they are investigating.

JAN. 12: Snyder activates the Michigan National Guard to help distribute bottled water and filters in Flint and asks the federal government for help.

JAN. 13: Michigan health officials report an increase in Legionnaires' disease cases during periods over the past two years in the county that includes Flint.

JAN. 14: Snyder asks the Obama administration for major disaster declaration and more federal aid.

Using Helliarrhea's screwy logic, Obama is the cause of this mess.  Omma is over the EPA, and the EPA is over Michigan regulators. So Obama is killing black babies and systematically poisoning poor kids to make them stupid and dependent on welfare.   Cheap assessment at local level to blame.  Democrats and muslims.

not an expert on this (not my industry, though did have an office based out of a water treatment facility for a few years) - in kansas (at least - don't know if it's a federal epa mandate and/or how other states comply) municipal water sources are required to sample and report lead/copper levels on a regular basis at KDHE-assigned locations.  in general, KDHE more or less ran the show about whether or not our water was good enough and there was a healthy fear.

i'm a little leery of the thought of what sounds like going from reservoir water to spending what sounds like a minuscule $4.5M (after emergency state funds) to go full-treatment on 16MGD of some nasty ass river water.  gotta imagine there's people that need their asses kicked all around

Based on the time line posted, I'm wondering where the incompetent accusation is coming from. Seems like it was quickly addressed.

Also, pretty much everyone culpable has resigned. The mayor didnt, but was unelected. I suppose the people of Michigan can vote out the governor as well. Not sure a DOJ [obviously hyper-partisan] investigation is really warranted [but never let a tragedy go to waste].
