Deathbite "Deathbite"
« on: January 13, 2016, 09:33:44 AM »
Point guard of the future or not? Kid seems to have pretty good handles, doesn't really have bad turnovers, and there are nights where he can't miss. On the other hand, I can probably count on my digits the number of times he has gotten past his man and made something happen at the rim, he is just not a kid that can penetrate and make things happen. Seems like an undersized shooting guard (streaky one at that) who has been forced to play point...thoughts?

I think he's more of a combo like Jake, but not quite the same level of scoring/ability to get to the rim. I think he can handle it though, solid assist numbers and A:TO is decent.

trying to remember jake finishing at the rim as a freshman and if i remember correctly he didn't.  he'd get to the goal and dump the ball and then coach would get mad and put him back on the bench.  it wasn't until frank pi'd him into finishing that jake started to take it stronger to the rack.

maybe i'm making this up though, it's been a while

Nope, Jake was def not a rim finisher early on.  He loved to dump on his drives.

He was definitely getting to the bucket though.

Freshman Jake also had the luxury of playing with Beasley and Walker  :th_twocents:

the point is that comparo'ing jake the finisher to deathbite the freshman isn't a good comparo

deathbite the freshman is playing much better than i expected and he's playing a shitload of minutes (3rd on the team)

And, he has already had two or three legitimately big games(not just for a frosh) as a frosh.

I think Barry ends up the better player by a good margin...still, some solid moments from all 3 freshman

Anything?

Questionable for Wednesday.
Doesn't sound like it is long term.

There is absolutely no reason to play him Wednesday unless he is 100%.  Let him rest for Oklahoma Saturday.
