Is Sandstone dying?  On their website they only have 7 concerts listed for the entire year and the lineup is rather underwhelming.  Maybe the concert industry as a whole is struggling?  :dunno:

I loled reading this. Billy Strings and Deftones are not on the same tour. Talk about whiplash

KC concert scene is rough all around for the most part. We get skipped for Omaha, St Lou, and sometimes OKC all the time. Losing the Buzz really hurt KCs concert traffic. Sandstone is probably dead with the new outdoor place opening up north though. I hope they can stay around though.

within a one year span, Metallica played in KC three times in three different venues

July 19, 1988 Arrowhead Stadium (monsters of rock tour with Van Halen & Scorpions)
Nov 29, 1988 Municipal Stadium (damaged justice tour with Queensryche)
June 21, 1989 Sandstone Amphitheater (damaged justice tour with The Cult)

they were just crossing over from a strong cult following to mainstream success.  as mocat pointed out, they played kc twice on the tour.  their monsters of rock show where they opened for van halen played to a sold out arrowhead.  van halen was touring for the first time with hagar.

i can still remember parts of the sandstone metallica show, it was an incredible performance.  iirc full video of at least one damaged justice stop is available on you tube

Wow. Didn't realize they'd played KC that often. I saw them in 92 at Arrowhead with GnR.

Caught Jack White at the Uptown last night. Probably the best musician I've ever seen live. I've also never seen the Uptown so packed.

Jack White was fantastic! We were like 5ish rows from the barrier! Was well worth the price of admission

Heard it was great but packed. I regret not going. I didn’t pull the trigger because of price and seeing him at starlight last year. He’s just awesome live.

He never disappoints.  I have seen him several times and easily top 5 concerts I've seen.

Also, thank you Greg I think for giving me the heads up on Sturgill!
Fifteen minutes later, when the Kansas locker room opened its doors to the media, the Jayhawks were still crying. Literally, bawling. All of them. I've never seen anything like it, and I've seen devastated college locker rooms -- after losses in the Final Four, the national championship game -- ever
