True story: I was driving north from Alabama, and made a stop just south of Stuttgart, Arkansas. While paying for coffee,a black guy was also buying something, and was in line ahead of me. The white genetic anomaly behind the register said something to the black patron that I couldn't hear, and then yelled at him and called him a "f*****g n****r". I was really taken aback by this, and had no idea this type of exchange was possible in civil society in 2014. There were a dozen other (white) people in the store at the time, and this exchange appeared to be perfectly normal to them.
I love the scenic beauty of Arkansas, but that episode made me realize that normal people should avoid spending any time there.
