Would Bill ever...

...retire Bo Ryan or Steve Spurrier-style mid-season (or even before mid season) to get Sean at least half a season as HC?

Sean wouldn't get the job if he retired with this staff

Vegas has it at 3-1 that he retires at halftime of the Bowl Game.

The problem is I'm not sure Sean getting the interim would be a given like it was for Gard at Wisconsin. I think Currie would make it Dimel

Bill would just no-show the Tuesday presser and send Sean out w/an intro that Dad's under the weather and is taking at least this week off and has left me in charge.

This is even better.  Bill is "sick" and leaves Sean in charge and then steps down a week or so later.

This. There are several assistants on the staff more qualified than Sean.

it would be more steve kerr luke walton style.  Has surgery but doesn't resign, sean fills in.  Sean wins the equivalent of 20+ straight NBA games.

We have no reason to think that he isn't going to make perfectly sound decisions regarding his retirement.
