May be if she lowered their taxes they wouldn't leave; maybe even return.  She needs loot for all her promised giveaways.

why lower their taxes when you can make them zero!  why not go even further and just give companies everyone else's tax dollars!!!  :gocho: :gocho: :gocho:

In all seriousness, America has the highest corporate tax rate in the developed world. Even after taking certain deductions into account, it is one of the highest rates. It would be a good idea to lower the rate to remain competitive.

Just look at Kansas' income tax plan experiment and how well that worked out. Now apply the findings to future tax plans. Not that hard.

Their only mistake was assuming money would be enough to attract business to relocate to Kansas. The US in general doesn't have that problem.

What most people fail to realize is that the plan worked exactly how it's supposed to (less money for poors and government).

I pay less in taxes, even after the tax cuts were scaled back, so the plan got that part right. Kansas's primary hindrance to attracting new businesses remains unchanged: when the weather isn't dangerous and/or a pain in the ass, it's rough ridin' boring. No mountains, no beaches, no pro sports teams in the vicinity except for the very NE corner, etc. So you maximize the advantages you have: low taxes, low regulation, low cost of living, cheap land, etc.

For all the libtarded blather about education funding, medicaid expansion, and all the other things they'd love to tax and spend more of our money on, that's not going to drive business to our state. The few liberal-run businesses that might care about that crap aren't leaving the coasts/mountains anyway.

The reason other countries are able to have lower Corporate rates is because a lot of them have VAT taxes, which I think the US should transition too. Much more efficient of taxing. IMO

Meh, Brownback and Laffer sold it as something that would make the Kansas economy the wonder of the country. It has failed at that miserably.

I agree they oversold it, but that's a messaging problem. My underlying points remain.

Unless we completely do away with income tax, the VAT is a terrible idea. Drives up the price of virtually everything exponentially because it is added at every level of production. We don't need more taxes. We could do with less government and less spending.

I mean I know that's your argument. I was trying to point out a VAT is more efficient and better than a corporate income tax.

Yet, on the news this morning I heard Brownback say what a success we have had with his plan. He is glad to see it all working out so well and is ready to see how the next step goes.
And of course, he said they have increased aid to schools.  (I am very well-versed in school finance; what he said is absolutely not true.)

Brownback finally saw a monthly surplus of like 8 mil, rather than a shortfall of like 40 mil.  of course he is "right" now.
