It’s called corn, Tobias.

Peas are not native to the New World and therefore not incorporated into my period-correct thanksgiving reenactment.

Those of us with a decent palate don't touch the disgust referred to as "corn" but go off.

Fun #lifehack for fancifying your goremay palate:

Refer to the corn as maize (even if it isn’t)

Attempted revival of the short-lived tradition of celebrating in Red River, NM did not come to fruition. Will be celebrating my mom’s house in Abilene. Should be a good time.

I’ll be providing the relish plate!

Is it a hot take to say mac and cheese isn't a thanksgiving side?

I don't really think of it as one, personally.

It's never been part of my family's side dishes so I don't consider it a T'day side but I would definitely go to town on some mac and cheese if it was there.

How is everyone preparing their bird this year?
I spatchcocked, dry brined for 2 days in the fridge and then smoked it for about 4 and a half hours or so. (we hosted Sunday)
Don't think I'll ever do them another way.

I love some mac and cheese and I'm a little disappointed it wasn't part of my family's staples growing up if it is common but now I can't process it as a side tomorrow.

Turkey, mashed potatoes, gravy (brown), cranberry sauce, dinner rolls, green bean casserole, cream cheese corn, candied yams/sweet potato pie, mac and chees, funeral potatoes

Would just waste room in my stomach that needs to be devoted to mountains of savory stuffing (dressing).

i spatchcocked it and wet brined for mon-tuesday then rinsed it and it’s currently laying flat drying its skin in a sheet pan in my garage fridge. I’ll smoke it tomorrow

mac and cheese isn’t a thanksgiving side i’m used to, would much rather fill the space with mashed potatoes and gravy on this particular occasion.

Cheesy Mustache QB might make an appearance.

New warning: Don't get in a fight with someone who doesn't even need to bother to buy ink.

My parents are terrible cooks and as soon as the grandparents got too old I took over....First thing on the docket? Remove the turkey and replace it with Cornish game hens. I can't stand turkey.

I started out putting one on each plate but eventually moved to slicing them up and putting them all on a big platter where you could grab slices to put on your plate.

Check out that fine gold rimmed china or whatever that I inherited from a grandparent and bust out around once a year. I've got a full set of that with gravy boats, small plates, platters etc etc for 12 people. Stupid grandparents should of just put that money in an Index fund, what were they thinking?!

That's great. I've seen some other beef>>>turkey memes today. Some dealing with the fact that you don't have to deep fry beef in a vat of scalding oil to make it palatable.

Hope that all gE'rs have an awesome Thanksgiving Day with the people that you care about.

Same but cooking it in the oven. I dry brined last year and it's just the best

Made some homemade chicken stock last night for the gravy
