A coach of Lovie's caliber would not have been available to us if we had waited until after the 2016 season.

take notes, currie   :shy:

Yes, Hemmy needs to print this out, put it in a money transfer envelope, and lay it on top of the Dillons trash can.

It's probably a better hire than I'm giving it credit for, but I just really am not too keen on anointing a former NFL coach a savior.  I really think going after someone like Pellini would've been a smarter call, but who knows.  Lovie is certainly well respected around Chicago and maybe he can inject some life back into the program.  Certainly a better decision than sticking with Cubit and better eons better than Zook/Beckman.

Here's hoping!

100% agreed, Lovie will make a splash but he certainly isn't ready made for college football. Also he's going to need to put together a good, diverse college familiar staff; he isn't going to set the world on fire dominating Chicago high school football recruiting.

Not sure how relevant the experience is today, but Lovie did have over 10 years as a college assistant. Which is nice.

So how many millions do the UT donors put up to offer Herman the head coaching job?

Rumors heating up of Herman to lsu.  Not sure there is a cliff big enough for Texas's ego to jump off of if that happens.

Also I didn't check if this was in the Charlie's gone thread.

If Herman goes to LSU, they will be forced to stick with Strong and act like they wanted that all along.

doubtful on the acting part.  Red will be out for blood, and he'll do it publicly.

The president and ad have been as public as possible with their desire to keep him, the issue is that hiring Strong got the last president and ad fired and these guys don't want to get fired to keep a football coach.

Paul Finebaum was saying if he loses out (which he has) he is very at risk.  Even went as far as saying a&m would look at Herman too.  Then he went off the rails and said the aggies could compete with Texas in a bidding war for Herman.

Are the ut players still boycotting the tcu game in protest of their coach getting canned (notwithstanding empty comments from the ad to the contrary)?

He got famous because of his callers acting over the top on purpose.  He's no different than local news reporters who go to an apartment fire/wild fire and find the most outlandish idiot there, then tells them to act it up on camera.

If Finebaum was a big 12 guy, I would love him.

As it is, I respect him for using the eff out of idiot southerners.

Regarding aTm and UT, I really would love to see them openly battle for a coach.
