Is our class stellar or something? Are you worried that BV couldn't close the deal as head coach, but think our current staff of lazy recruiters is going to keep these recruits from looking around?
You don't think BV has been thinking about a staff? If you think he has to scramble to put together a staff, he shouldn't be even considered as HCIW. He knows exactly who he wants to hire if he comes to KSU, and the HCIW insult only makes it more difficult.
And we're worried about strength and conditioning coach adjustment? My goodness. Let's just keep the gang together forever.
This isn't about keeping the gang together. Snyder has created an operational and administrative structure that supports winning football. If that is already in place, why rock the boat? If we all agree that what we need are better players, Venables can make that happen. Just replacing a few guys like Hayes, Miller, and Latimore with younger, more energetic recruiters will go a long way there.
Regardless of what me, you, or anyone else thinks of Snyder, he's created a structure that allows him to win with crappy recruiters and walk-ons. Venables can make adjustments as he sees fit, but don't tear the whole house down when all you need is a little remodeling.
The buzz is that Snyder has such a unique framework/structure for winning football at K-State, the successor, in order to avoid a breakdown and long rebuilding process, will need to adopt the Snyder way of doing things. You'd think Venables knows that framework. One of the reasons I happen to like the potential of Leavitt's involvement in all this is because Leavitt knows the framework as well. A friend with a friend in the OU athletic dept is adamant that the FB program will collapse unless the Snyder successor is chosen within the Snyder coaching tree.
Was this friend of a friend at OU pre Stoops? The "only the Snyder way has ever won here" is such bullshit. If Prince wasn't a total ahole and Raheem stayed for a couple years he likely goes bowling every year Freeman was here.
P5 resources + multiple games in Tex/close to the Metroplex + NU & MU leaving the conference + KSU still accepting Ds on JC transcripts = winning
Flood aggie has this potential as well...are the programs in the same stage of development?
well, Dan McCartney had them respectable for a few seasons and I would call him a competent coach at best. Also, we are clearly the dominate program in our state, are much closer to Texas and ISU doesn't have our respect for course work completed at fine community colleges everywhere (AFAIK)
Really, the Chizik hire and the MAC dude they just hired speak to what even the 9th best job in the conference offers.
