We already pay our current guy $3 million a year, that's more than double their current salary, almost triple Herman's current salary.

We don't have to outbid Memphis or Houston. We have to outbid the perception that some major program is going to come snatch them up in a year or two.

yeah, but I think both guys are in for a payday of that size whether we come calling or not. at that point we either have to pay more than the other person or be the better job. and we aren't going to to be the better job.

Fleck and it isn't even close. The new blood and energy he would bring in combined with a Snyder mentality would be amazing.

Let's say we don't get our first, second, or even third choice. At the end of the day, K-State is not a very hard job. There are tons of assistants out there who would make a fine head coach here. Hell, Ron Prince took the job and got Josh Freeman to commit like a week later, and hired 2 coaches that went on to be head coaches in the NFL and Penn State. Our facilities are much better now, so we should be able to do better than Prince. I think the majority of coaches out there could win 6-7 games per year at K-State. We just need a little bit of luck to find someone who can win 8-10 per year.

If Snyder retires at an awkward time with a limited pool of good replacements, I wonder if Currie would consider making Sean interim HC just to bide time.

I don't believe Sean is one of the coaches who could win 6-7 games per year at KSU, fwiw.

we would have to crack open a scrooge mcduck tower of gold doubloons to get either of those guys. they're already out of our league.
Quote
Currently open: Illinois, Maryland, South Carolina and USC

Likely opening (likeliest to least): Virginia, Miami, Purdue

Only the USCs are clearly a better job and have made the same commitment to football that we have.  Maryland is a bit of wild card with the UA guy but he didn't have enough sway to get them to hire Leach 2011.

I really just want BV, it makes so much sense my head (and heart) hurts knowing it will never happen

I am limiting my search to coaches who have the right fit.  You need to look at him and say, "Yes, that man is the coach of Kansas State Football".

We would be able to get Fleck instead of this faceless, milquetoast person, although I'm not sure Fleck is someone Currie would hire.

Seems like it is a lot of effort to put names under pics.

I am sorry, but if you knew even a little bit about big-time college football these would be household name. The fact that you don't recognize the faces of the hottest coaches just lets you know are are out of your depth in here.

Also, he is making 1.35 and could be in a spot to be HC at Alabama sooner rather than later - it will take a great job to get him out of T-town
