Several news outlets are reporting about an owner of some upscale restaurants that is going to raise menu prices and charge a gratuity fee, an not allow tipping. He is on a crusade to stop tipping. I tip to reward service. IMO this is just more homogenizing of society by liberals.

I kinda think restaurant and business owners are free to do what they want.

tipping is horrible economics

the no-tipping culture is one of the things i am most excited about moving to. hopefully america will be fixed by the time i get back

I love this idea. Good service should be rewarded by the owner not the customer. The customer then rewards the owner by dining there.

I mean, I get that dems want everyone to be equally poor, but it just seems mean to take away one of the few low skill jobs you can still make a decent wage at.

I like to have tue by freedom to decide. Usually 15 to 20 percent. If the waitress is a big heifer, smells of smoke, hacks on everything, and has flies following her, maybe 2% if they are a Demo, I hope for a free lunch.

Having spent time in both tipping and non-typing restaurants, I found no evidence of improved service in typing restaurants. I usually tip the same regardless of service so it doesn't really matter to me.

What bugs me is staying at hotels with people that want to take the bags you've carried all over the place from the lobby to your room and you're expected to tip. I hate it because I hate carrying cash and it's a service I don't want. I also dislike tipping room service delivery guys but it's not quite as bad but I still think it should be included in the price of the meal.

I think pay servers an hourly wage is better than them having hope to have a good night to make ends meet. They could create a budget around their income and plan accordingly.

There is a place that i call-in my order and pick up at lunch time a lot, and they have a tip jar in the carry-out area. Why would I tip you, girl at cash register? I did all of the leg work.
