I don't think Kietz is right on the part about the ku AD waiving or walking away from an $800k judgment.  First, that judgment was won with university funded lawyers, that is like throwing away public funds.  It would make the Prince deal look smart.   Second, that is borderline abuse of process.  Using the Court's system to leverage someone to get testimony or owe a favor...that would be despicable.  Not going to happen.

But the house swapping with felons is kind of weird... :dunno:

Listen bub, you want to hot shot some good ole fashioned newshound's common sense you're going to have to bring a little more to the table than some lawyer-speak b.s.

Wow... you can cut the KU obsession in this thread with a butter knife.

can you point to a specific post?

You are getting into details about where Bill Self lives.  Just a little bit obsessive, IMO.

i went to ku and lived in lawrence for six years. three of which were less than a half mile away from self's house(s).  :dunno:

HOly shhit, me too.  Although Hy-Vee wasn't there and that area wasn't fully developed.  I lived <1/4 mile from there...

I think this thread is more obsessed with Lowrents citizens, not ku. They just happen to have ties to ku (thus, passing the butter nkife test).

uk fans are pre-conditioned to say this whenever anyone is making fun of their legal/ethical/NCAA compliance challenges

Pretty f*ckin' weak if you ask me.  Take your hits like a man (internet cyber-man in your case)

Interesting that 2 of KSU's finest newshounds also live on the same block as each other.

remember when BMW was convinced that the NCAA was going to drop the hammer on KSU like 2 years ago?  He even had a date when it was going to happen.

Oh yeah, all of Tardville was in on that one.  An OP law firm was involved, and Tardville knew the whole scope and the NCAA was going to "Drop the hammer" on K-State.    So Ben just parroted what he read in Tardville forums.

Remember now, K-State athletics is in a "shambles" and it would take "years" to recover.

Wouldn't that mean that the obsession is rather soft/weak?  I think it would be better if you would have said "diamond edged power saw," because then you'd be implying that the obsession was large rather than small.  :dunno:

This scandal will rock the ku athletic dept, but don't hold your breath on Self, Perkins, Morningstar, or anyone else of importance being implicated.  The big hit will be on the donors, and will rival the scale of contribution withholding when people found out about the super secret Prince deal.  The big difference will that ku athletic dept personnel are susceptible to criminal indictment and prosecution by the feds.  The ku faithful will have to add that to the "lack of institutional control" albatross that they carry.  Can those 'tards withstand two albatrosses?

I remember right around this time last year I was driving around in KC.  810 was playing the racin' boys so naturally I switched over to 610.  Nick Wright was going on and on about how KU's Athletic Dept. was head and shoulders the best in the area, but that MU had the resources to supplant them.  He was talking about how mbb was a blueblood power(which it is) and that football at KU was a sleeping giant.

He also spent a good portion of the broadcast trashing KSU's AD, remember this was in the midst of the Prince stuff.  He practically dared callers to defend KSU.

Funny how things change in a year.
If there was a gif of nicname thwarting the attempted-flag-taker and then gesturing him to suck it, followed by motioning for all of Hilton Shelter to boo him louder, it'd be better than that auburn gif.

I actually they called it a PROMINENT OP law firm, as if a private law firm has enforcement powers.  But I do remember the wanting and yearning that ku fan had to tarnish KSU's squeaky clean image.  Instead of cleaning up their own swamp, they wanted KSU to get dragged in.

I don't expect anything to happen to Self.  But Perkins quite possibly could be a different story.  Again, my little ku buddies tell me the new Chancellor and figures in the KBOR are not happy that the FBI is investigating ku athletics and they are supposedly wondering aloud how Lew Perkins couldn't have known anything about what was going on.  Particularly since it supposedly goes back years, and Lew has been there for over 5 years now.

Post was basically saying that Lew won't see an indictment, I don't know if this will wear out his welcome in Lawrence.  You know, like he wore out his welcome at Wichita State.

Lew Perkins will get fired for the simple reason that he makes too much money.  If he were making Curry-type money and this crap happened, he might have a chance.   :comehere:

That may be true.  You have to appreciate the irony of Perkins getting a huge bonus and then weeks later Perkins is telling USA Today about ku athletics budget cuts and operating in the red.

I agree.  Pretty convenient that heads may need to roll and Lew is making more than their NC coach.  Convenient target.

Seems to be the M.O. in Lawrence.

Mangino - 2008 coach of the year, gone a year later
Perkins - 2008 AD of the year.......

I don't know, and don't really care.  More interested in where Terrence Jones is going to commit.

why would you not care about this?

i can understand not caring if this stuff were going on in the english dept, but the athletic dept seems to be something you follow closely.  :dunno:
