I mean, the GOP is still probably going to eff this up, right? But maybe, just maybe there's a chance the GOP will pick a conservative Speaker?

I've said it before and I'll say it again, K-State fans could have beheaded the entire KU team at midcourt, and K-State fans would be celebrating it this morning.  They are the ISIS of Big 12 fanbases.

Quote
“It is total confusion — a banana republic,” said Rep. Peter King (R-N.Y.), a Boehner ally, as he recounted seeing a handful of House Republicans weeping Thursday over the downfall of McCarthy and the broader discord. “Any plan, anything you anticipate, who knows what’ll happen. People are crying, they don’t have any idea how this will unfold, at all.”

ZOMG not a conservative in charge of the GOP!! We might actually have to legislate the same way we campaign and get elected to office!!!! :runaway:  :jerk:

The debt has increased about $4-5 trillion under Boehner's "leadership," so I wouldn't call him a conservative. I'd call him an "establishment just maintain the status quo at all costs Republican."

I'd say the debt moved forward plenty. Like 4 or 5 trillion.

Seriously though. Seriously. Can you even image a Trump Speakership? He'd "look into" everything and "get along" with everyone!!

what a bizarre thing for a purported 'pub to be hopeful about.

ProgLibs:  Always letting everyone else know that they're doing it wrong while never having a solution to anything unless the government is involved . . . and still mad that the damn lower than minimum wage waitress living in the car down the street is taking so long with that craft beer, and the wifi in here sucks.

I don't think anyone can really do it at this point. Our party is too fractured. Boehner was probably the best possible person for the job and he threw his hands up and walked away, the next in line for the gig did the same. The problem is the best candidates don't want to deal with the current party situation.

I agree that Boehner was the best one there for the job.

I heard a pretty good couple podcasts last week about this sitch and the effect the Freedom Caucus is having on the party and the Speaker job.  Seems like there is going to be zero good resolution.  The Freedom Caucus sounds like they are either going to get all their way, or keep up what is happening now.

I would think that taking the job now would be the best thing for someone who didn't want a continued career in politics.

Yeah, the problem with the GOP is a lack of governance. If they would just all agree to keep spending more money and expanding government, everything would be so much easier. :jerk:

Under Boehner's "leadership," even simple ideas like breaking down appropriations bills into smaller, more manageable pieces was asking too much. Nah, let's wait until the last minute to pass one massive spending bill for the year - then cry and agonize about "defaulting on our debt" and "shutting down the government."

[whisper]It's almost as if this is what half the GOP wants to happen...[/whisper]

It's not half, its approx 40.  Also, all that is fine if the GOP wants to do that, but their infighting is killing their agenda and the D's.  It is basically 40 ppl from mostly non diverse districts holding everyone else hostage.

GOP just needs to get their crap together(however that may be), then come to work.
