Pretty sure it is seasons without a losing home record. Also pretty sure they found out at some point it wasn't even the longest. That or somebody else (Kentucky  :dunno:) had a longer one, but lost out on a technicality like vacated wins or something.

Prognostications seem about right tho!

Yeah, well, vacated wins don't count so we should go ahead and trumpet the streak to everyone that will hear about it. This might be the last year that Kansas State can say they have the best home court in America.

Lets make T-Shirts. Then we can x them out and say, "Thanks oscar" on the back in black marker.

columbia climbed as high as 112th last year in KenPom and was a top 150 level team entering march. they return four of five starters from last year as well as a couple of role players. ten of twelve players are juniors and seniors, and you might recall they went on the road at kentucky last year and led them at half before losing by 10.

long story short, they'll beat ksu as noted in the OP.

8 wins sounds positive to me, actually.

I mean this won't get him fired.  Of course it won't.  NOTHING this year short of a player dying on court because oscar withheld medical care will get him fired.

This is a mulligan season that doesn't really count.

If this HAD to happen, which player would you want it to be?

I'll defer to renocat on the selection myself.

it's probably not ethical to express a preference.

Extending the streak with this year's team will warrant a contract extension.

I think it is our duty as real K-State fans to brag about this streak all season. So if we do lose it, everyone will know how big of a deal it is.

I refuse to believe that this is true. I really don't think John Currie is keen on looking like a fool. Firing oscar looks significantly less foolish then admitting a hiring mistake if the OP's prediction comes to fruition.

John is rolling in the money, basketball hasn't proven to be a financial failure yet, and it likely won't this year.

Plenty of people will give oscar a break for "cleaning up" the K-State basketball program, even though he's largely responsible for making the mess.

It is what it is.

This may have been addressed before, but where did the "John just cares about money and not success" talking point come from?

If you are referencing what I said, I didn't mean to imply that John only cares about money and not success. Long term the two usually go together though and I think John will be willing to give oscar more patience because a) he hired him and b) he'll give him some leeway for losing a bunch of players even though he recruited him. Eventually oscar failing will get him fired, I just don't think it will be after this season, no matter how bad.

Sadly enough, ISU has higher football standards than we have basketball standards.

Not you in particular. Just seems to be the herd mentality here on gE. That as long as people are showing up and supporting the team that John won't care about making a coaching change.

Almost that it will take a financial hit as opposed to a performance hit that will get him to hire a new coach.

The money means he won't feel pressure to change like he would with a losing football hire. It's not the only factor, but it's absolutely a factor. With Currie's involvement in running off Marcus I'm doubly sure no change will be made no matter what after this season.
