severestudios    RT @alroker: From Dr. Forbes @ Wx Channel: "I'm raising TORCON to 9 for north-central OK and south-central KS" #tornado #outbreak

 :surprised: :ohno: :runaway:

I thought TORCON only went to 8??
Doesn't matter anyway.  No one really cares about either of those locations.

Have a lot of respect for Dr. Forbes and his forecasts...Josh Wurman on the other hand is welcome to get sucked into a funnel and never return to earth

not really sure why Forbes felt the need to come up with his own tornado predictions...he didn't like NOAA's apparently??

I guess he has enough cred in the tornado field to do whatever the eff he wants.

A tornado outbreak is expected later today and tonight!

The conditions are coming together for a major severe weather outbreak today.  A HIGH RISK has been placed over parts of Kansas and Oklahoma.

A powerful storm system is about to move out into the plains.  Strong energy aloft will be coming over a late May warm and very humid air mass. There are still a few questions that must be answered today, but everything we are looking at points to a tornado outbreak developing later this afternoon and evening from the Nebraska/Kansas border south into Oklahoma possibly all the way down to north Texas. This threat will then shift east tonight into western Missouri extending south to the Arkansas/Oklahoma border.

A low pressure area will intensify near the Oklahoma/Kansas border and this is the system that storm chasers should pay close attention to.  Where will the surface low be located at 7 PM this evening?  You should try to position your chase team just north and northeast of the surface low for the highest tornado potential.  This low pressure area is then expected to strengthen further and lift into northern or central Kansas tonight which will continue the tornado threat into the night time hours.

Remember a couple years back when there was a prediction for Topeka that the conditions were exactly the same as they were when the tornado hit downtown in '68 and every news story was  :runaway:?  I think it sprinkled for a couple minutes.
