A lot of people go crazy thinking that more hops equals better beer. Joke ends up being on them when they realize that the level of hops maxes out at some point and everyone was just piling in hops to create shitty beers. 120 IBU is around the most humans can taste.  Modus is 68 IBU and is a great beer.

Love 80-Acre, Amber Ale, and the Pale Ale from Boulevard!

Also love just about everything from Tallgrass especially 8-Bit and Buffalo Sweat

I also like Sam Adams stuff! I will use this thread to start broadening my horizons

Sometime fairly recently, IPAs turned into a dick measuring contest to see who could make / "like" the bitterest and highest alcohol content in the beer

All i've had so far is the Luna Sea and that is a really, really good beer IMO.

I like the Luna Sea as well.  Let us know how the cask tasting goes.

Anyone had Avery Maharaja? Seems like the ultimate dick measuring beer.

You won't find many beers with the kind of kick-you-in-the-face wallop of Avery Brewing Company's high octane brew The Beast. The name alone might make you twinge, but it's this Belgian strong ale's 17% ABV that will curl your toes.

At 6 p.m. Friday, Sept. 21, one of only two kegs in the state will be tapped at Topeka's Blackbird Espresso Bar and Bistro, 4025 S.W. 10th Ave., in Fleming Place. Judging from the buzz leading up to this event, hardcore beer lovers might want to make sure they make it out to Blackbird that night. Eighty pours of ass-kicking goodness then the keg runs dry.

Newcastle Werewolf blood red ale is pretty good.  Mrs. Fedor brought home a sampler and this was the winner hands down.

Ska has been working on its recipes for at least a year and plans to debut a new one every three months through summer 2013, "when -- assuming the 12/21/12 calamity howlers are wrong -- the cycle will begin again," Thibodeau notes. The other three beers will likely be a peppermint stout, a version of Ska's orange cream stout, and a stout aged in merlot barrels -- but none of those is confirmed.

Currently drinking a New Belgium Trippel.  Damn tasty beer.  Debating on whether or not to try the Boulevard Long Strange Trip next.  If it's from 8/2011 is it still good do you think?

Oh ya, Trippel is very tasty imo.

Was the Boulevard bottled on 8/2011? Or is that the "drink by" date?  If it was bottled a year ago, it should still be (mostly) good I think, assuming it hasn't been exposed to direct sunlight and/or drastic temperature changes.

Let me know how it is, EMAWmeister...I haven't tried the Long Strange Trip yet!!
