Had a couple of pastry stouts from Prairie this weekend. Stuf't and Corner Piece. They were both very good and VERY boozy.

Texas is not in the Midwest, but I'd assume like many things the answer is Iowa.

Shiner Bock is not terrible.

I don't know about other Texas beers.

Kansas has Free State, Defiance, LB, Norton's, Central Standard and now Manhattan Brewing Company, to name several that make decent to good beer. Also a lot of garbage too.

I should also add LBC and Fields & Ivy.

I like their Maibock.

Agreed! But I didn't count them because they're so tiny.

who do we think collectively as a state makes the worst beer overall in the midwest? I vote for Texas, just turrible.

5 years ago, Texas probably was the worst in the US, not even JK could save them.  Since the TABC has loosened their stranglehold on Texas craft beer the slightest, Texas is no where near the bottom.

Jester King, Weathered Souls, Turning Point, Spindletap, Celestial, Pinthouse can all make their best beers that are on the same level as any other brewery in the country.  Those are the ones with a strong foothold.  There are plenty more that are cranking out really quality beers, time will tell if they have a business model to stay around.

Quality of beer can’t be the metric. Wherever you are, odds are the best beer available is at a nearby brewery rather than from a can that crossed state lines.

So in my mind, Texas definitely is towards the bottom due to the very unfriendly laws like AST mentioned. It’s on its way up though.

My vote for best would prob be Oregon just cause craft beer is such a staple of Portland. Every place has its own charm though.

I do find the question kinda ridiculous though. Kinda like asking which state has the best tacos.
