I'm pretty bearish on New Belgium.  Does anyone really like it, or is it just well-distributed?

As far as the regular releases from NB go, none of them will knock your socks off. But they are all something that I'd drink every weekend. To me, that makes New Belgium a damn good brewery. I'm not huge into sours and specialty releases, but what I've had from them has been outstanding. That makes them a great brewery as far as I'm concerned.

If you're ever in Ft Collins, definitely visit/tour both NB and Odell. Odell is easier to get a tour, and a really cool place especially when the weather is nice. NB tours book months in advance, but you can show up any day of the week, get super cheap NB beer and play games all day long.  It's a really fun place to kill an afternoon.

There are no really good New Belgiums. Fat Tire is fine, but it mostly benefits from having been widely available before most craft beers were.
:adios:

Odell, on the other hand, makes beers that speak to me.

Anyone had not your father's root beer? A friend made me try it tonight and I drank a whole bottle  :Wha:

Ugh.  Sickly sweet.  It's like the fake ass rootbeer taste is simply being used to cover up something disgusting.

Well, I guess if it were not well-liked, it wouldnt be widely distributed for as long as it has been. Still, not particularly fond of it.

I like it.  I think it's pretty good.  It's just not a very funky sour.

I wasn't a beer novice or anything. Just trying to expand horizons and get in to the finer points of them.

Deschutes Pinedrops IPA. DO NOT BUY. I'm a hops guy. this is not hops. it's something else gross. too much. maybe if you want to have one beer some evening it would be tolerable. but nobody should ever want to do that so don't ever try it.

Hmm... I've never had a deschutes I didn't enjoy.  Maybe this would be the first.  It probably won't be available here, so I may never know.

Funkwerks is better than either of those two but those tours are very fun. Equinox is also cool. Fort Collins Brewing Co. is a waste of time IMO
