i dont play console games very much anymore so i wouldnt need it for that.  i know that you can only get so quick before diminishing returns kicks in and you're just wasting money, i just dont know when that point is

Well when tv buying. I have found that Vizio's built in sound quality blows. If you get a vizio make sure you have surround sound or a soundbar of sorts. Samsung's it seems like you are paying for a name and some of my friends have samsungs that run 1080p and to me they seem darker than other brands. There is a lot of personal preference to me when buying a tv and that's half the battle.

A smart Blu Ray player is a lot cheaper than a smart tv.

Samsung Sony or Sharp man.

If you don't actually calibrate your tv once you get it setup in it's final home, then you're wasting your money on a nice tv.

I have not owned a dvd or blueray player for over a decade. one time some relative of mine tried to give me the Cars movie (great movie) for my kid because they had an extra and I was like, "nah". and they were like, "you already have it?" and I was like, "I have it on a NAS that I send to whatever tv or device my kid wants to watch it on like someone who's not literally living like a caveman lived with his physical media OMG!"

Picking out a redbox is a great way to get a kid to CTFO while at the grocery store, otherwise yeah it is for old people

I just ordered a 4K TV.  I wanted to go with a 1080p but I felt like I might regret that decision in a year or two.

There was a guy on shaggy that wouldn't pause his dvr to go to the bathroom because he was afraid of burn in

well, of course.   That and it could hurt the gold plated Monster hdmi cables if you let it sit too long.

My last two TV purchases took a combined 17 minutes.  I just walk into Costco, look at them, see which one has the best combination of cheap/decent looking, and buy it.  If you factor in drive time, it probably took me 30 minutes more than that.

Just got a sharp and it's amazing. Don't bother getting a smart tv, buy a chromecast for $30 and it'll do everything a smart TV can do.

i want to buy a samsung oled but this panny just keeps on keeping on.  maybe i researched too hard and bought the best longest lasting television of all time.  i envision getting an energy credit 20 years from now from kcpl if i trade it in for a new model.
