I would expect a future Athletic Director at Ku to be in tune with and account for the tickets in the future at KU

They handed the findings over to the Douglas County DA . . . that's akin to handing them over to the dumpster out back.

Wouldn't it be more convenient to just hand them to one of the FBI officials who were already in the building?

FBI doesn't need that garbage report.  They're running their own show, thank god.  At least two (former) KU employees were instructed by "federal agents" not to even speak to KU's investigating law firm (per the report).

I really like GOSP's summarizations of the report because I am far to lazy to read it myself  :shy:

AP says it could be up to $3 mil.
Quote
Associated Press
LAWRENCE, Kan. -- An independent investigation into the Kansas athletic department says at least $1 million worth of tickets were sold inappropriately during the past five years.

The investigation conducted by a Wichita law firm showed that five Kansas athletics staffers and a consultant sold or used at least 17,609 basketball tickets, 2,181 football tickets and a number of parking passes and other passes for personal purposes. Many were relayed to brokers.

The investigation estimated the losses could be as much as $3 million -- more than $887,000 from basketball tickets -- and believe the scam could have started several years earlier.

The university said it will take immediate measures to prevent future wrongdoing within the ticket office. It is also working with federal authorities investigating the allegations.

The rationalizations from my ku co-workers is precious, and relies on extremely low IQ.  Their story is basically that the money didn't come from any bank accounts of the athletic dept.  Apparently not putting money in that bank account that should have gone to the athletic dept is NOT stealing.  I like the baldness of assuming every one is idiotic enough to buy that story.

What am I missing here?  Why would KU's athletic department want to lose up to $3 million in ticket revenue?

It's just 3,528 "missing" tickets a year . . . hell, every athletic department "misplaces" 3500 plus tickets a year, why even bother to go ask about it right??

You really think KU needs missing ticket revenue to funnel money to players?  Good grief.

Weren't these tickets complimentary based on contributions to the Williams Fund? If so, KU didn't really miss out on any ticket revenue, as they already received their donation. They just stole the ticket from whatever donor should have received it.

well it gets a little dicey when some of that money helped fund an AAU organization that has been "pumping" recruits to ku.
