I told you guys this was nothing more than Rodney Jones getting rich off of selling tickets on the black market.  KU is untouchable.

Is this why multiple people have resigned since the investigations began? Because only one of them was involved?

Rodney was really the glue of that office.  With him gone, many of the others couldn't bear it.

My source tells me the Garfield cartoons he would email around brought a lot of smiles to a lot of faces, fwiw.  Pretty reliable source too.

Heard the same thing except they were Family Circle cartoons (with penises drawn on the most inappropriate places).

Roger Morningstar has coached some of those summer traveling teams, one of which included his son, Brady, who committed to Kansas in 2006. Since Jones, Freeman and Roger Morningstar allegedly engaged in scalping tickets through the Pump brothers in 2002, summer traveling teams financed by the Pump brothers have featured at least nine players who went on to play for the Jayhawks. Among them were nationally recruited players Mario Chalmers, David Padgett, Omar Wilkes, Tyrel Reed, Elijah Johnson, Jeff Withey, Travis Releford and Brady Morningstar.

Chalmers’ father, Ronnie, also coached the Pump brothers’ summer traveling team in Alaska, before being hired as the director of basketball operations at KU in 2005. He eventually resigned that position in 2008. And the sons of head coach Bill Self and assistant coach Danny Manning – Tyler Self and Evan Manning – are both currently listed on the rosters of the Pump brothers’ summer traveling teams. Coach Bill Self and Perkins have attended the Pumps’ annual retreat held for coaches and administrators.

Freeman said the financial gain started out relatively small in this first run, with the Big 12 tickets yielding around $40,000. Freeman said Jones took a $20,000 cut, while Freeman and Roger Morningstar split $20,000 evenly

When Yahoo! Sports approached Roger Morningstar at his Lawrence residence, he said because of ongoing “legal issues” he had been advised by his lawyer not to speak about Freeman. When asked if he was aware Freeman had also spoken to the federal authorities about the Pump brothers’ alleged involvement in scalping tickets from the KU ticket office, Roger Morningstar shrugged.

“That’s old news,” he said. “That’s all old news.”

nothing to see here.  just another player's father making thousands of dollars from ku athletics  :surprised:

How much of that money flowed back through into the hands of ku basketball players??

Oh, but you see, that last part is "lazy journalism" . . . trying to imply that the pumps had some sort of influence on players going to ku.   Gosh, why would anyone think that??

because Jason King has made a career for himself by continually throwing KU under the bus.

Yeah, who can forget Jason's massive investigation into ku's last probation??  Heck one of his articles about it actually made the front page of the KC Star sports section, dude just dove in with both feet and really sought out information . . . a masterpiece in investigative journalism which started and ended by attending the requisite press conferences and asking Lew to proof read his stories.

it really is kind of weird that sinks, morningstar, scot pollard and self all own on comptons street. it's just weird. it's not like it's a neighborhood or anything. it's a little street just north of the hyvee on sixth. no more than ten houses. used to only be compton and now these other people all own on there. it's weird. not to mention that self got his place from the felon who ratted everything out.

Did you seriously scoop ljw, kc star and kietz.  I mean what terrible, terrible newspapers we have.  It is just embarrassing.

wow. color me shocked that $elf apparently gave up his house in fall creek farms for one next door to doug compton on a street (bauer brook ct) that i'm pretty sure comptom owned all the land to at one time and has started to develop over the past five years. a couple of other interesting names on that street too.

 :nono:

yeah, i mean nothing fishy there i'm sure. self just randomly decided to give up his million dollar plus house in fall creek farms to purchase a different million dollar plus house (located about a half mile west of his) from a convicted felon who happened to know a ton about the illegal actions going on in the ku athletic dept. and who also happened to be a business part w/ roger morningstar. the same roger morningstar who's son somehow received a scholarship to play ku basketball at the age of 20 after being a very pedestrian highschool player at free state high and also happens to own property on the same little street.

add the fact that it's basically doug comptons street and the fact that all those other people own or owned property there and it just seems almost unreal.

anybody that has spent any time in lawrence and thinks that this stops w/ just jones, freeman and morningstar is dillusional. :chirpchirp:

I wonder how this melds with the other little money laundering/funneling operation rumors that are strong with Lawrence and the ku basketball program.  The rich white walkons, the girlfriend money, Seff's BFF in Doug Compton etc. etc. etc

Like I've always said, we are so far behind them on this front, we'll never catch up.
