BillyBob1 shares more that KU fans mostly don't want to hear in the comment section of the story in the LJWorld. The slam on the World is a bit unfair as its story had yet to be updated with the attorney's outburst.

http://www2.ljworld.com/news/2010/apr/22/lawrence-developer-david-freeman-gets-18-month-pri/

"Why are we getting our Lawrence news from the KC Star? The LJWorld is a joke. How about some investigative journalism? Did Rodney really buy a $1+ million property on his measly salary from KU? How about getting a list of the season ticket holders from KU and comparing that list to people who actually received tickets? These season tickets were not stolen, they were diverted. How? Word is that there is over $3 million involved. Freeman claims he actually saw tickets being sent to a scalper. Who did he see?
Quit picking on Lew and Compton and let's see the LJWorld actually do some work."

I'm already looking forward to that "RIP" thread, should be amazing.  Just a thought here, odds that Limestone didn't play an important role in the destruction of her low-self-esteem/bulimia?  Would NOT be the first time.

BillyBob1 is awesome.

Like Dax has eluded to, I have heard sketchy rumors/personal aco$!#*s from Williams-fund types and other seemingly connected Lawrence folks for years about Compton's involvement with the KU athletic department.

The KU athletic department's level of involvement with shady operators is simply astounding.

Kent McCarthy, adjunct professor in the graduate business school is a big booster, and also runs Jayhawk Capital in JoCo.... a private equity fund.  He would routinely bring in / conference call David Whittig (Weststar scandal) and Andrew Wiederhorn (Wilshire REIT scandal) to speak to the his portfolio management students  (http://www.business.ku.edu/facultyresearchcenter-apmpeople) as these were close business relationships of his.  One of the best guests was Craighill Redwine, a private equity fund manager, who was at the time the father-in-law of Quinn Snyder while Quinn was coaching at Mizzou....and Ol' Quinner would stay at Doug Compton's house when Mizzou would come to KU.....and as the story go those fellas had very similar interests  :fatty:

I'm concerned for my KU friends that this scandal may deter their coaches' ability to attract pornstars to games.

Lungstrum is a massive KU fan.  He has a big house right across the street from Campus on the west side, right next door to the Delta Chi house (same street as the Chi-O fountain).   His son, Justin (good dude), went to Yale for undergrad (just like his old man) and KU for law school (just like his old man).  The entire family are massive KU fans.   Massive.   I'd say that they are good people, from my interactions with them, but definitely shouldn't be involved in making crucial decisions that would impact the welfare of KU....far, far to biased to remain impartial.

The University of Kansas athletic department announced two more resignations Friday of staff members with deep ties to the ticket office.

In an e-mail to boosters, the department said that Brandon Simmons, assistant athletics director for sales and marketing, and Jason Jeffries, assistant director of ticket operations, had resigned.

Jim Marchiony, KU’s associate athletic director for external relations, declined to discuss the resignations or say whether they were related to an investigation of ticket office operations and the Williams Educational Fund that was ordered by the university’s chancellor.

The Williams Fund is the primary vehicle that Jayhawk boosters use to contribute to the athletic department and acquire game tickets.

Neither Simmons nor Jeffries has a listed telephone number, and they could not be reached for comment.

Last week, an Olathe lawyer said that his client sparked a federal criminal investigation into whether someone had improperly taken men’s basketball tickets from the university and sold them illegally.

The federal inquiry appears to be focused on whether NCAA Tournament tickets, and perhaps season-ticket packages, were taken illegally from the university — possibly for years — and sold through outside channels.

The resignations of Simmons and Jeffries joined those last month of former Williams Fund director Rodney Jones and his boss, Ben Kirtland, the head of fund raising for Kansas Athletics Inc. and the associate athletic director for development.

Simmons had served as an assistant director in the department’s ticket office, joining Kansas Athletics in May 2005 and working in the ticket office until becoming the assistant athletics director of sales and marketing in December, according to the announcement.

Jeffries joined the ticket office staff in July 2003 and became assistant director of ticket operations in early 2004.

Jones was director of the ticket office before becoming the assistant athletic director in charge of the Williams Fund in 2004. Kirtland was the highest-ranking official working directly with the Williams Fund.

According to KU’s website, 4,200 Williams Fund members contribute million of dollars each year to finance all athletic scholarships for about 550 university athletes.

Dude does this ever bother you?  I mean seriously, there is banter between fans but this is going to a new level.  Do you consider yourself a moral person?  If you do how can you support your AD?  I mean you have to back your team to an extent, but when does that stop?  How much does KU have to do wrong before the fans, people like you, stop and say this isn't worth winning?

Unless the money did find it's way to the players, this doesn't have anything to do with winning.

This could be only about the greed of 5 or 6 employees and the incompetence of their boss for not catching them.
