BillyBob1 shares more that KU fans mostly don't want to hear in the comment section of the story in the LJWorld. The slam on the World is a bit unfair as its story had yet to be updated with the attorney's outburst.

"Why are we getting our Lawrence news from the KC Star? The LJWorld is a joke. How about some investigative journalism? Did Rodney really buy a $1+ million property on his measly salary from KU? How about getting a list of the season ticket holders from KU and comparing that list to people who actually received tickets? These season tickets were not stolen, they were diverted. How? Word is that there is over $3 million involved. Freeman claims he actually saw tickets being sent to a scalper. Who did he see?
Quit picking on Lew and Compton and let's see the LJWorld actually do some work."
BillyBob1 is awesome.
Like Dax has eluded to, I have heard sketchy rumors/personal aco$!#*s from Williams-fund types and other seemingly connected Lawrence folks for years about Compton's involvement with the KU athletic department.
The KU athletic department's level of involvement with shady operators is simply astounding.
Kent McCarthy, adjunct professor in the graduate business school is a big booster, and also runs Jayhawk Capital in JoCo.... a private equity fund. He would routinely bring in / conference call David Whittig (Weststar scandal) and Andrew Wiederhorn (Wilshire REIT scandal) to speak to the his portfolio management students (
http://www.business.ku.edu/facultyresearchcenter-apmpeople) as these were close business relationships of his. One of the best guests was Craighill Redwine, a private equity fund manager, who was at the time the father-in-law of Quinn Snyder while Quinn was coaching at Mizzou....and Ol' Quinner would stay at Doug Compton's house when Mizzou would come to KU.....and as the story go those fellas had very similar interests
