I am going to sound like a horrible person here, but....
I get that they just pushed a human being out of their body and all that, but if they don't want to be in this situation to have to not get paid to stay home, then don't have a kid. Just like everything else in life, if you can't afford it then maybe don't do it. I mean, I think that they should be able to take off work and have a job when they come back, but I'm not so sure on demanding companies to pay for the leave....if the company offers it that is a way for them to be more attractive as an employer.
OK, so let's say that having a kid is good for the future of the society...ok then maybe you should get to take paid leave for one kid....but what is the limit? If someone decides to have a kid every year, is their employer supposed to pay them to be gone for 12 weeks out of every year?
Also, what if, instead of having a kid which just makes another mouth to feed, I'd like to do something that would better help society, like helping build shelters and infrastructure in a 3rd world country for people that already exist....Can I get paid to take time off to do that?
