recruiting ethics question
« on: April 19, 2010, 10:07:43 PM »
I'll use uk as an example for my questions,

Is it ok to bring a guy like elijah johnson in as a point guard, a burger boy who could start as a freshman at most schools, have him sit behind fatty for a year which i'm sure he expected
and then bring in two more points the following year one being a sure starter in selby, should self be bringing in a better burger boy to start ahead of his current burger boy?  Will guys
that are not one and done talents like elijah even dare go to a place like that in the future?  Mario Little was a hot shot juco guy right, self brings in a one and done 3 the next year and
says why don't you red-shirt mario until x is gone, now self is trying to bring in a better 3 and if successful little will never play.  Maybe this is a reality of this level of recruiting, but I think
coaches that do this are going to be exposed and then shun. :nono:

it's the players' fault not the coaches.

Cheesy Mustache QB might make an appearance.

New warning: Don't get in a fight with someone who doesn't even need to bother to buy ink.

coach's job to bring in the best players he can.  player's responsibility to choose a good fit for his abilities.

Self's first loyalty is to ku.  Players have to pay attention to who else is being recruited and size up their own potential playing time.  Self will, of course, lie like a rug (good pun, eh?) about their potential playing time, but so will other college coaches.

I really like what they did using an Adida's rep to help get Selby . . . we can learn from this.
