if k-state beats iowa state and texas, that'd be eight wins against the RPI top 40 - with a chance to add to it in the B12 championship.

has a team with eight-plus top 40 RPI wins (with potentially five wins vs top 15) ever been held out of the ncaa tourney? maybe the better question is, "has a team with eight top 40 RPI wins ever finished .500 or worse?"
