Yeah, if we were competing in  which conference has the best states, I would prefer the pac. Unfortunately we're competing in athletics.

And the basketball!  THE BASKETBALL!

Conference tourney at Madison Square Garden.  Manhattan to Manhattan. Etc.

4, 5 team divisions?  Play each member of the division twice (8 games) and then some sort of NFL-style mix of other intra-dvisional games?

Yep.  Pretty exciting actually.

The reality is, this instantly becomes THE premier basketball league in the country and being a part of it would be great for the longterm viability of the program.  Which in the grand scheme of things, our basketball program has been far more important to the heritage of our University than football or anything else.

We are a basketball school.  Have been historically.  This keeps us attractive for our coaching retention and has the opportunity to only help in recruiting better on the East coast.  The media exposure on the East coast would be big, continued tie in to ESPN, etc.

Let football be competitive, keep investing in it, but I see no problem in dropping down a level in competition, stay in a BCS AQ conference, but allow basketball to continue to remain at a high level.

The Big 12 staying together would mean way more money for KSU when you factor in TV contracts, less teams to split it with, plus getting exit fees from A&M.  West side stadium remodeling could be done right.  Get to keep the CTR and other rivalries.  Easier to travel to road games, etc.  Yet all of a sudden the lure of joining the Big east and splitting a smaller pot 20 ways sounds attractive to you?!?
