Texas not having a lot of NFL talent is killing the conference in this stat.

During the Mack era, Texas was good for 3-5 (or more) draft picks per draft.  They didn't have any in 2014, 1 in 2016 and 1 in 2017.

I mean you can look at the high water years of this conference, and Texas was winning ten games a year.  Once they started going South, everything in this conference went with it.

Oklahoma is pumping out 5+ almost every year. 

I mean, really, if Texas produced the talent they had been producing, we'd probably be closer to the Big Ten.  Also, TCU has been upping it's number a bit as they have filled their roster with Big 12 talent, so they'll be a stronger contributor over time.

The Big12 just isn't pulling in enough elite talent these days.  Unless the rest of the conference starts coaching 'em up Old Balls style I doubt we'll see a significant change.  But I do agree with Pan on Texas.  The conference needs the Horns to be good again.

In 2017, the Big 12 signed just 27 of ESPN's top 300 prospects. Alabama signed 21. Georgia had 18. In 2015 and 2016, the Big 12 secured 34 of the ESPN 300. Texas signed 14 of the 34 in 2015, eight in 2016 and just five in 2017. So far in 2018, the Big 12 has commitments from 15 players in the ESPN 300. LSU has 10, despite a new, unproven coaching staff led by Ed Orgeron.

Pretty much Airzona schools would be the only option. Unless we straight slaughtered them and took 6. I kinda doubt either is realistic.

I don't want more than 12 really anyway, unless we coudl get to 16. And at 16, if I'm weilding the hand of God, I'd rather go east and push TCU and WVU to an eastern division of 8. I don't want to stop playing our usuals.

It would be nice if some young go-getter journalist wanting to make a name for themselves in the blogosphere would actually rank all power schools based on total media rights including tier 3 radio/tv. Really get an apples to apple on what people are getting paid vs how conferences compare.

Correct. The article states the Big 12's deal will pay $5 million more per school, that's all rights for the PAC, add in Tier 3 and Big 12 schools will make 10-20 million more next year.

How anyone could say with a straight face that the Big 12 couldn't pick whatever schools they wanted from the PAC in a few years or make a mega-conference, blows my mind.

Does that include radio & in stadium ads?  I thought k-state bundled radio/tv into 1 contract.  I know a lot of others also bundle in-stadium ads as well.

Ha. Sometimes you have to check on yourself. Maybe it was Dixie loving, yelling, and screaming that used to be more characteristic of the show before he became a clown. It probably drew me in. Their rituals, their lack of dentistry, their local pride. Like the fact that someone could take pride in Tuscaloosa and Auburn, AL, Oxford and Starkville, MS, or Gainesville, FL. That was always pretty weird to me and I had to understand.
