Start increasing your due diligence with a handful of schools. Send representatives to the schools and do a full work up. Really get in deep with the financials and play out all of your scenarios.
See how next year's selection goes. Does an 11-2 Clemson get in over 11-1 TCU/Baylor? If so, we need to probably start seriously moving forward. Because if we make a decision, It's likely two years before they play in the league.
So, if we get screwed in December 2015, odds are we will have to make a decision in Q1 2016, and the teams will start conference play in August/Sept. 2017. By the time those teams get a full share and possibly start to become competitive, we're looking at 2020. The current CFB contract is up in 2025. Our GOR coincides with that duration.
If we want to have a strong and capable set of teams by 2025, what's important is to give these teams as much time to acclimate as possible. While it seems like we have a long time to wait, we really don't. There will be a certain level of decisiveness that needs to happen.
I think that if you stay away from football only, your four best options are Cincy, UCF, Memphis, and Colorado State. They just need to start diving deep, now, so if we need to pull the trigger in Q1 2016, we're ready to go.
