Sure UNL athletics doesn't take state or student money to support annual operating expenditures.

But they're now playing in their 3rd taxpayer funded basketball arena, and Haymarket ballpark was subsidized by taxpayers as well.

The writer seemingly does not understand the time value of money. Maryland got a LOT better deal. Shockingly so, in fact.

Anyone know where the UM/ACC lawsuits stand? Last I heard form anyone that knew what they were talking about was that the crux of the lawsuit hadn't been heard yet, but that UM lost a couple of preliminary decisions, i.e. outright dismissal, jurisdiction... UM athletics are in a sorry state right now, but I miss when they were a BB powerhouse and were constantly beating the likes of Duke and UNC.

This reinforces what we have believed all along.

We know now with even more certainty, with the aid of hind sight, just how ridiculous the KU-to-the-Big 10 stuff was. The Big 10's focus on TV sets after the Nebraska acquisition PROVE that they had ZERO interest in KU. Maryland and Rutgers large populations were more valuable than a small population school that is pretty good in a second-place sport, in the eyes of the Big 10 (and anyone else with a brain).

I really like the Mountain West. We could have done a lot worse. The Big East turned to garbage, for example. Snyder could have gotten into the BCS a couple of times had we gone to the Mountain West, I'd think.

I think you would have seen the Big East take "Forgotten Five" (Baylor, TCU, KSU, ISU, KU), and that group would have joined WVU, Cincy, UConn and USF in the split to the American. I'm sure UCF, Memphis, and Houston probably would have rounded out that crew for 12.

Divisions probably would have been the 5 Big 12 teams + Houston, and the other would have been WVU, Cincy, Memphis, UConn, USF, and UCF.

Anyway, that's what I think was more likely. KSU to the MWC doesn't feel right. The Big East was aching for anyone with a competent football program.

Not really. OSU would have gone to the Pac 12. Same with TT probably.
