This is what is truly laughable about it all. BITB actually makes a good point about it too, if they leave the conference and UT still has their network, what changes? It's cute he thinks that the Longhorn Network will make any difference in his success for TX recruits, but leaving sure as hell doesn't change anything.

Jeebus, reading sqwawk and meth fans debate this on the Star's site is painful. The only thing they agree on is it would be best for the conference if Texas was thrown out of the Big 12. Two absolute dumbass fan bases there.

Yeah.  Texas gets to keep $11.25 million outright, and would probably get about a million or so back in distributed revenue.  It would cost them, maybe $2.5 million a year, and when compared to their total revenue stream, it amounts to something like a 1.5% hit or something like that.

Personally, I'd like to see some sort of Big 12 Network that exists concurrently with the LHN.  We all keep those profits and UT can just keep the LHN.  Rules can be set up to determine how games get distributed.  If it becomes profitable enough, we'll just let UT ultimately buy in and/or eliminate the Tier 3 pool.

While not a surprise, I don’t share this optimism.  These are BOR members who are appointed by an elected official (gov)….who have been, by all accounts, absolutely bombarded by a campaign of fans/voters who want to move.  If you’re the governor, you’re more worried about re-election than if MU can compete for a division title in the SEC.
