Thicc boi here probably ate at least 20 June bugs tonight sitting underneath the one light post in front of the garage. There were thousands of bugs and he just kept going.

@sys please identify this snake I found watering the fruit trees. He must have just had a good meal because he didn't move at all even after I sprayed him with the hose, had to walk around it.

High plains anaconda?

Had a visitor on the farm today. Name was Ron and my uncle told him about the antique farming equipment in the junkyard so he drove by to look at it, saw me and we started chatting.

Ron is a 60 year old farmer who recently got into raising horses to pull antique equipment in parades/shows.

Pulled up in a flat bed pickup with his dog on back who never left the entire time. Was rocking overalls, a cutoff flannel and a cowboy hat accented by a chew in his mouth.

Anyways I gave him a tour of our junkyard and he explained what every old piece of equipment was and how it was used.

I asked him if he lived around here and he said "So you know XYZ's old place? I'm right by them" I was like "nah, I just know letters and numbers from street signs" and he explained he lived about 5 miles NW of us.

Put him in touch with my dad and he might haul off some of the stuff.

10/10

(Sneaked a pic of Ron for the bbs)

got another 90pts on Thursday, just lush as hell out here.

My grandpa dug out some sort of pond with an excavator back in the day next to the "river" that catches a lot of runoff. It was dry the past 2 years but is now filled with driftwood that flash floods have pushed through.

Driftwood on the high plains?!?

Hell yeah, is lil SD down there for a week or so? I used to spend a week at my grandparents farm each summer around that age and it was a blast. Like summer camp but with a 4 wheeler and .22

Total random farm day.

Neighbor farm had a down size auction... an eclectic blend of house wares, small tools, old equipment, furniture...

I came away with a sweet copper weather van/ lightning rod.

Then I fixed a "gate."  Years ago dad had ATV riders trespassing along a creek.  His solution was 5 big hedge posts with 2 cables ran thru it.  Now we need access to mow the CRP.  I took the cable apart, out of the end post.  Used an old pipe of something green and made it like a wire gate with chain and padlock.

Saw a nice field of sunflowers on the drive home.

good snake, ben ji.  looks like it might have a fairly long & slender prey item in it.  also, i like the silver cow.  might want to consider naming it "silver".

got off track in another thread:

ANOTHER BRAG: I can slowly back a double trailer (tractor, implement, anhydrous tank) reliably. This is an impossible task for 99.99999% of human beings.

I will challenge anyone in this blog to a backing up contest.

Pro tip for non farmers who have no idea how to back up a trailer:

Actually not giving it. learn it yourselves, losers!

I'll give the pro tip: just do the opposite of what you'd think.
