My Beef Off submission...

Good cattle feeders factor in 1-1.5% death loss as a part of their breakeven.

Kansas has roughly 2.3m head on feed at any given time. Slaughter about 2x that annually.

If you're losing 1 pct which would be high then that's 800-900 head a week for the whole state.

I took out the difference in the low wages I got paid in the hayfield in pitman sticks.  My rig always had the freshest ones.
