They're happy to portray them in a more positive light when discussing their more libertarian positions, but when it comes to tax policy and size of government, they're straight up EVIL!!!

Modern liberals (much of the press) and libertarians are not the same things. Libertarians believe is smaller, limited government and individual rights, freedom, and accountability for ones self. Liberals in American often had reworked the ideology into something more along the French realm of a government's responsibility to provide for the individual and guarantee not only their rights, but a specific standard of living with a tendency to create leveling to achieve that end. They only like freedom of choice when you make the choices with which they agree.
