I think we're a long way off from interplanatery travel being commercially viable. I want cool stuff now. I'd rather the government spend more money on that than, say, food stamps.

SpaceX is working on Mars right now.  Also, they just tested a method of saving the first stage portion of a rocket to cut costs through repeat use.  The test failed, but was pretty close to succeeding.  Supposedly, that will cut $55M per rocket launch. 

These are the guys who will get you what you want and when you want it.  Maybe subsidize the living crap out of them?

It's pretty terrible that the libtards have politicized something that was once as cool as nasa. I remember asking my parent to go to space camp when I was a kid (we went to the cosmosphere instead  )
