a buddy of mine was with this girl for like 6 years of off and on.  he got a diamond "grown" for the ring, like they grew the diamond artificially in a lab or something and it was super cheap.  anyway they were engaged for like a month and then she looked at his phone and he had been talking to some random numbers.  she assumed it was other girls and overreacted and went to anneburg where he was umpiring slow pitch softball and threw the ring at him during a game.  he left to go talk to her in the middle of the game leaving the game umpire less.

anyways they eventually got back together and moved to kc.  they split 3 months later but he just got engaged to a much better person 2 months ago.  so what i am saying is congrats wacky and maybe don't get a super cheap "lab diamond" and get something nice.

We went several places and ended up at Moshiri in Olathe at 119th and Black Bob.  They make custom stuff and you just tell them what you want and he makes it.  I'm sure you can do it cheaper online but this seemed easier.  We also had them do a matching wedding band and got a great deal on my band there as well.  Plus the guy who runs the place is named Homi and that's awesome.

It's not that bad, you get used to it.  I'm on my 3rd ring.  The first one was Titanium and I lost it within the first 6 months so then I ordered this 3-pack of stainless steel rings on Amazon for $24.  I'm currently on the 2nd of those rings having lost one so far.

Rings are a giant waste of money. It's a really sad part of American culture.

I agree with this.  At least in the need to buy expensive diamonds.  That said, that view point has greater than a decade of marriage informing it.  If I did it again, it would be super simple and fake.  CNSWife agrees.  Money better spent, and more enjoyed, elsewhere.

Rings seem to be getting much larger while marriages end up being much shorter. Product of the times both ways, I guess.

If you must, then at least try for the conflict free diamonds. 

You might try looking into lab grown diamonds too.  Nobody is going to notice and anybody with an ounce of class isn't going to give a eff.
