Just saw the Foo Fighters in Fenway.

Had seats probably 12ft from Dave on his throne. He acknowledged me twice.

Farking amazing show you guys.
I'm jealous. Saw the Foos in either 08 or 09 in Kemper, and they were incredible. Nearly a 3 hour show.
Ooh congrats, Unruly.  I am going to their show next month at the Sprint Center.  I wonder if Dave will still be on his throne or if he will have healed by then.

Important Dave Grohl Mobility Update:

He is still doing shows from his throne but that didn't stop them from rocking out and totally melting my face off.

Like, what is the highlight at a Slightly Stoopid show? An incredible groove? Amazingly positive vibe moment? Longest guitar upstroke echo? The singer really nailing the accent? I'm really trying to understand here.

That's not true. Obviously if these guys are headlining Red Rocks, tons of people enjoy their concerts and I'm legitimately interested in why.

Cheesy Mustache QB might make an appearance.

Unless you're seeing a stage production like gwar, rammstien or katy perry or something, it's just people singing and playing instruments. I imagine the highlights are similar to any other concert

this is wrong, but in that case what makes this kind of music better than other kinds of music to you? (or people who would go to this concert? if you don't want to go to this concert obviously the question doesn't apply to you)

What makes this worse than other types of music for you?

I honestly don't understand what you're looking for here. Music is very subjective, either you enjoy the sounds or not. Personally I find this "type" of music very relaxing and perfect as a background when doing tasks. I lean more to the pepper/sublime end of the spectrum, but I don't skip either of the two bands in question when they come on pandora

I find it a very stale, monotonous and boring imitation of a genre that is already pretty monotonous and boring but man the videos of their shows just make me think the crowds would be awful.

You have a fine reason to like it though.

And I like hearing perspectives of why people like what they like, which isn't a new or unusual concept. I know some Phisheads, for example, and I've told them I don't "get it", but I enjoy hearing them describe what they like about the experience and their passion.

Yeah, I'm sure a large portion would be. It would probably be very interesting, though.

rusty's criticisms are fair. the genre isn't all that creative and the constant pot references are ridiculous, but i still enjoy the music.

as to why i like the music, my roommate my freshman year loved rebelution, iration, the expendables and slightly stoopid. he played them all the time in our dorm room, and i eventually came to like those bands as well. we still stay in touch with each other today, talking about the shows we've gone to/ are going to. i have a similar relationship with erii. our trip to red rocks for slightly stoopid two years ago was such a good time. it's fun to go to concerts with your friends. shared experiences are neat.

i generally go to concerts because i listen to the artists regularly and don't support them through merchandise or music purchases, so i'll buy a concert ticket and go listen to music that I enjoy for a few hours. i don't feel that a slightly stoopid show is a can't miss event, but i'm already going to kansas city this weekend for something else. i also haven't seen the dirty heads or the expendables before, so that's a plus.

also, just about every concert crowd i've ever encountered are worse to be around than the crowds at white, stoner reggae shows, but i don't mind pot smoke and hippies. we don't get much of the skate/ surf bro element at shows in the midwest.

Great post roidhead.

Let's get back to the concert sharing experience. I am seeing Explosions in the sky, GZA, Snoop Dogg, Tenacious D and The Prodigy this Sunday  :excited:

You won't find a bigger cesspool of piece of crap human beings than you will at any random country music concert.

probably a coin-flip between pop country concerts and 98.9-type mainstream rock concerts.

Same crowds these days. Most 98.9 bands have that country twang/drawl to their music. Probably slightly more women at the pop country concerts.
