Washington or Colorado

Fair, but even early 90s CU was really talented.

Just look at the gap in talent, coaching and support between OSU (an elite) and Oregon (the best of the non-elite) it's unreal. It wasn't like this until about the mid nineties and it's just gotten worse.

I'd say it was just as bad before scholarship limits. Maybe worse.

I have no idea when that took place but if it was worse how were teams like BYU, Pitt and Clemson winning championships?

Good point. College football was completely different with bowl tie ins, etc, so it's hard to compare.

Pitt had tons of NFL talent then, the Rust Belt was at the tail end of the mfg boom

Clemson was the only functional program in SC until Holtz was hired and Clemson spends like blue blood

Byu was smoke and mirrors, beat an overrated Pitt team to open the season and just didn't lose.

True, but it's hard to imagine better chances than 98 and 12 with a playoff.

I thought Urban was by far the better Coach going into this game, but I greatly underappreciated what he could do. And Ohio State's talent. This is men vs boys.

Agree completely. I knew Ohio State was good, but I didn't think they were that good. This game capped a pretty good first time series of playoff games and Ohio State played a huge part, obviously.

Unless something changes college football dramatically there are only about ten to fifteen teams who will vwin every single championship for a long time. The money is just too good for a couple of the elite schools to not be head and shoulders above the rest every single year.

I mean there are occasional exceptions, but I've felt that way as long as I've been a football fan.

Since the Big 12 went to 10 teams, 5 teams have had a share of the title, (and Texas isn't one of them). The co-champs this year could have easily made it into the playoff and won.

I have a total football crush on Cardale Jones. He has the strongest arm I've ever seen.

Agree on the stud factor, but he says he's not yet ready for the NFL.

Yeah as much as I totally hate Ohio State's guts it was amazing to watch their performance last night.  Just absolute domination on both sides of the ball.  Not only were they tougher but they had more speed than the speed team.

I have no use for Ohio State but have to appreciate and respect how good they were.
