I think he's gone after next year if we don't make the tourney. There will be too many empty seats for Currie to ignore.

Season tickets next year will be a big indicator. We haven't had a game this year with fewer than 12,000 tickets sold.

I thought you were out of town, have you been to many games?  I've only been to a couple, and attendance wasn't good.  I suspect we'll see a MASSIVE drop in tickets sold, especially season tickets.  Wildcat victory plan sounds nice, but I don't think its going to move the needle that much.

I've been to a few, and attendance is down. But in the current climate, sold tickets is what really counts. I regularly attended in the days of 6-8K attendance numbers, it will be interesting to see what the attendance (sold tickets) numbers look like next year.

Ran into a tuck at a joco gas station after the game. We were both rocking some KSU gear, made some small talk about the game and referenced how it was time for oscar to go....HE AGREED.

Tickets sold is a ridiculous concept when they are practically giving away free season tickets  with football season tickets.

You can play games with tickets sold, but you can't hide the revenue numbers from Dax's prying eyes.  If basketball starts losing money we are going to know.

This is correct, revenue will be the decision maker, not attendance. Revenue is what clipped Deb in the end. Her attendance was up because the athletic department moved heaven and earth to sell tickets, namely $20 season tickets. The athletic department will do all they can to get tickets sold, that's going to hurt revenue, it already has.

So, Weber told the media that it's his call whether Foster and Malek are suspended...um, is that true? Certainly seems like all the other info points to a mandatory three game suspension because of failed drug tests. Is oscar just straight up lying to us now? Seems like a shitty thing to do.

I would certainly hope he's lying. Any good coach would lie in this situation. Frank would call it an injury.

I'm not sure why, but it bothers me more when oscar lies to me than when other coaches lie to me. Something about it seems much more unsavory. Maybe it's because I rough ridin' hate him. That's a possibility.

Here's the problem; if he's lying, he's probably trying to take some of the pressure off of a sophomore and freshman. Seems like a good idea. But then don't come out and say dumb stuff like you are "begging them" to play hard or throw Nino under the bus like earlier this year. His inconsistency in taking or not taking responsibility is what makes it frustrating when he speaks to the media no matter what he says. I mean, I know the Illinois fans warned us about this, but the frustration only becomes real when you get to hear oscar being oscar for your program.

Yeah. Other coaches lie to protect their players. oscar is just lying to protect himself. He's doubling down on the narrative that all this losing is Marcus Foster's fault.

Weber is a likeable guy and a competent coach when he is winning, but I am bothered by his attitude in losing.  The players are immature and they were sucked into the hype or the players are not playing well -- these are the things good coaches address.  Self said his team was crap at the start of the year, and praises his pplayers but challenges them to get better.  Our guys would not walk off a cliff for Weber.

Here's the thing tho. Self trashes his team EVERY December in the media, says they're soft, undisciplined, etc. and it works to motivate every year. If it works to use the media to motivate then that's fine. Self's use of media is calculated.

I think it's not that complicated.  You don't announce the three-game suspension so that teams might have to gameplan for Foster.  The info ended up leaking, but oh well.  The other "dumb stuff" worked: or at least Nino and Foster picked it up after getting called out.

basically everything Weber does would be forgotten if he just won. it's not like anything he does or says is THAT crazy but when you play shitty and lose and look shitty, everything gets magnified.

Nino had a string of good games and a string of games where he underperformed. That's exactly what oscar called him out for in the first place. Marcus Foster has generally played very well his entire career. Nothing oscar has said/done changed Marcus Foster's performance one bit, except when he benched him, you can't play well from the bench.

Most coaches never acknowledge drug suspensions and skate around it in interviews, nothing to see  here. Feel free to trash Weber for the lack of maturity on his team.

oscar is just so gosh darn unlucky!  His plan would have been perfect if not for bad luck.

When will oscar catch a break?
