“If you get top 10 picks and they still play hard then you are going to kick butt,” Weber said. “I lived that. I had five guys who played in the NBA on my team (at Illinois) and we won the play-hard chart every time. So we won by an average of 18. Those are the special guys. That is (Gregg) Popovich with the Spurs. That is why they win championships. They have got great players and then they play hard and listen and do all the little stuff you are supposed to do. It is important.”

i've studied the crap out of different keys to success in coaching.  i really know my stuff and have the requisite knowledge to opine on the subject.  that said, i think if King DeBruce concentrated on getting some more burger boys to manhattan, a lot of these supposed coaching woes would go away

oh clams, it's so hard to recruit burger boys to manhattan.  no it's not.  ever heard of michael beasley?  mvp 2007. burger boy elite.

for whatever it's worth- this needs to be King DeBruce's motivation- find a burger boy better than frank's burger boy and get him to manhattan kansas hoop city america.

i really don't give a rat's ass what anyone else who isn't as qualified to discuss this matter has to say on it.  buzz off if you don't have the credentials to post  in this thread.  save your breath and your keyboard strokes because they're falling on deaf eyes.  burger boys are the key.

This is coaching insight we're paying millions for

Is burger boy short for hamburger sandwich boy?  87% lean is what I am saying, no gristle, just smooth flowing ribbons of marbled meat.  Sizzle sizzle pop damn that smells good, put some onions on that crap!

How do we get the burger boys to try hard (big part of our program).  Everyone knows they are selfish and only out to raise their own draft stock then leave after one year.  What then clams?

Hoops Take Number One:
First you get the Talent (burgers, ballers, bouncers, and bread)
Then you get the Teacher (ecks vs ohs, rhombus and 1, weaving and swingin, put that chest pass on point, don't lose that game before is starts)
Then you get the Training (down to parallel son, plates, pills, fluids, pumps, one more set, one more set for real now, oh you have one more in you)
Than you get the Trophies (new shelf, new wing, new building, media is too much to handle, can they do it again, all that glisters is gold

Hoops Take Number Two:
The ball moves faster than the feet, don't bring it to my gym it if can't work in the street.

ok, on take #1-
talent. i think we agree with King DeBruce, it takes burger boys to win trophs
teacher. hmm- can't teach an old dog new tricks, that's my motto
training. well.  not sure how to train for hoops trophs.  does kentucky look like they train?  see: talent.
trophs. ah yes, now we've come to the payoff.  i hate stupid trophs (bowling championship, golf, etc) but natty champ trophs, different level type crap- worth training for.

mostly agree w/ hoops take #1

ok, now hoops take #2
seems more like a motto than a take.  is it a motto?  not sure.  let me run one-
round ball move, quick like snake, break some ankles with my shake and bake

good start but need more burger boys

Hoops Take Number Three (3):
Burgers beget burgers, exponentiation yields exponentiation even after differentiation.

But beware you need to start with a pair.

I didn't realize watching it live that he actually grabbed the clipboard for the sole purpose of throwing it. That's great.

We all know what is coming.  K-State basketball is headed toward mediocrity for the next ten years.  I went to every home game from 2004-2008 and the writing is clearly on the wall.  We will never be more than a middle of the pack team Big 12 team under oscar Weber that will make the tourney and lose in the first round in a good year, make the NIT in an average year, and miss the postseaon entirely in an average/below average year.  This point has been beat to death on this blog, but eff it, I care a lot about K-State basketball.  We will fire oscar one day.  It could be 2 years from now or 5 years from now, it doesn't matter. Any idea to the contrary you're simply lying to yourself. Sure for the most part every coach gets fired, but the university we all love is banking on everything we know about oscar Weber's to change during his K-State tenure.   oscar has had regular season success so far, no doubt, but he is not the future.  I hate Currie for hiring oscar.  It is such an asinine hire it's hard to think about what a Dallas hotel room does to a man.  Mainly I'm just sad.  I love K-State basketball and always will.  But is is inevitable, the good times are over, I hope K-State is good again in my lifetime
