did UT really hire who they wanted?  I don't think so.  At least that's not my recollection.

Saban for sure - Was offered not just a boat load of money, but one USS Austin (RIPieces) and then the regular boat load to get him out of 'Bama.

Saban is going to retire in less than 10 years. You can't blame him for not wanting to start over.

It's time that people start realizing that Texas and OU are no longer the class of the Big 12 and haven't been for about 4 years.

there is no "class of the big 12" anymore imo. this league lacks an identity.

When I think of Big 12 football, I think of traditional powerhouse Kansas State, led by coach LHC Bill Snyder squaring off against new money programs like Baylor and TCU. OU and Texas are an afterthought.

Starting over does not take as long as you think in college football, usually coaches get things turned around in 2-3 years. It only took Saban two years to get Bama from 6 wins to 12. Strong got Louisville from 4 wins to 11 wins in three. Tressel, Stoops, Meyer at Florida and Utah are other examples.

The talent gap between Texas and Alabama is not as much as you'd think...

The talent gap is enormous. Texas didn't have anybody drafted last year.

There never will be one unless OU and UT are strong.

BTW...I have degrees from KSU, KU, and Arky. Tough to take sides at times, but a TX loss to Arky is fine with me.

Arkansas is 2012 Baylor after Baylor beat us to ruin our natty prospects.  Arkansas is in the beginning of a long winning streak, Bielema had a great recruiting class, and he has the team playing at a high level.  I felt sorry for our CTR rivals for drawing Arky in a bowl game, Arky was going to destroy just about any team matched against them.

Charlie will have Texas rolling again in the next few years. They will soon return to prominence. There has clearly been a shift/spread in power in the conference that started four years ago. I, for one, am more excited for the conference when OU/UT aren't the only ones who are nationally relevant.

I mean, all that being said, Michigan needs a coach, they get Jim Harbaugh.  Texas needs a coach, they got Charlie Strong.
This, simply, cannot be said enough. Mack, for all of his bitchassedness, was playing for the conference title in the final game last year with Case friggin McCoy at QB.

Harbaugh will change that program without having to kick half the two deep off the team. He doesn't care about buying time.

Charlie rocks a strong turtleneck though.

Oh Charlie will have them winning by next year; that is what he told the media when asked how long it will take them to get back to winning the conference.

This is all pretty stupid. Michigan went through two failed regimes to get to Jim H. and he hasn't done anything yet.

I suspect Harbaugh will get Michigan back to respectability before he bolts to the NFL again. But he won't do it until at least his seond year in AA.

My wife was the last OT class in B.S. program before it moved to a Master's level program and PT moved to a Doctoral program.

hello deputy dawg, I reviewed your post and then went into my office and checked my wife's PT diploma from KU Med and it still says doctor of physical therapy on it.  then I texted her and asked if she is a doctor and she said yes.  so you might want to double check your sources here.  happy new year

TCU is easily one of the top three teams in the country. It's going to be laughable listening to ESPN justify the OSU pick after they get blown out tomorrow.

TCU has turned it over 3 times and it's 28-0. it's over.
