My fav is Wally explaining to all of us idiots how this is REALLY only oscar's 2nd year coaching or some kind of bullshit, and it's pretty much exactly how Frank's 2nd season went (actual 2nd season, not fake 2nd season). Choosing to disregard the fact that those two seasons really aren't all that similar at this point, his premise has created by far the dumbest rationalization I've seen for the team's performance this year. Also, him blaming this all on the players is pretty  and possibly  :opcat:

In Frank's second year the team finished 4th in the Big 12 and had 22 wins. oscar will not even come close to that this year.

To be fair, I, for one, went ape crap on Frank after 0-4 Big 12 start and getting pounded at Nebraska. I remember writing a scathing post back on the kstatefans scout site. It's easy to look back and remember the finish and the long winning streak that season, but things looked bad early.

That said, the situations aren't as similar as Wallace makes them out to be.

1. Losing Beasley, Walker and Stewart > Losing Omari, Spradling and Shane.

2. That KSU team blew out crappy opponents, but lost close non-con roadies/ neutrals to Kentucky, Iowa and at Oregon.

3. 2008-09 actually was young. Pullen was third fiddle the season before at best. Jamar was a RS frosh. White Tiger (not Brad Korn) was our starting big. Denis was in his first season as a transfer. Foster was the best player last year, and Wes was a big contributor as a frosh. Gip looked like a surefire 12 and 8 guy. K-State returned a lot.

4. Two things are working against this team. a) the Big 12 is much tougher now than then, and it will take a 10-8 Big 12 record just to make the NIT. b) oscar's history of collapse looms large.
If there was a gif of nicname thwarting the attempted-flag-taker and then gesturing him to suck it, followed by motioning for all of Hilton Shelter to boo him louder, it'd be better than that auburn gif.

Nino Williams amongst many on this team is simply not a HIQBBP, never has been.

That block out was LOL'able

That game was 2001 OU, 2004 OU, Pasco Fiasco all rolled into one.

The "this is really only oscar's 2nd year" logic could maybe be a could solution for an awkward situation where it's somebody's birthday but they're depressed about turning 30 or 40 and want to stay 29/39.

I don't know what to say.  I'll have to go back and look but that appeared to be one of the oldest school moves ever to try and get a put back rebound on a (purposely . . . that EVERYONE knew was coming) FT.

Then the topper of Mike Davis literally directing a game winning inbound play from the sidelines with no timeouts left.

I just got to describe the end of the game to a girl who knows nothing about K-State and with only a cursory knowledge of basketball.  It was lol for both of us!

Texas Southern nearly lost to 4-12 Southern on a buzzer beater. Southern made the shot but it was .2 seconds late.
