They can get jobs unless there aren't any.

There are plenty of entry level jobs available.
But I thought those people were still scum class libs working at McDs and should be purged from society?

What on earth are you talking about? I'm glad they're working as opposed to suckling off the government teat. I don't scoff at people working entry level jobs because I'm not an elitest snob (unlike the Obamas - and you apparently).

Sure you do when you want to cut food stamps and say those working at McDs need to get better jobs and get off food stamps. They will still be on government teet working at McDs.

Bump, still waiting for Chant's response to this.

Hi? I'm not sure what response you want. I'm sure some people working entry level jobs are also receiving food stamps, but I'm still glad they're working.

My point is you want to cut food stamps and tell those people working entry level jobs to get better jobs. Im just calling you out for your BS about oh its just good they got a job.

I don't think you've thought this through. First, I don't want to eliminate food stamps - I want to reduce the amount we spend on them and place greater restrictions on the junk they can be spent on. Second, I definitely want people working entry level jobs to get better jobs, and most of them will indeed progress after 6 months of hard work. You don't stay on the bottom rung unless you're lazy or a total dumbass.

Big Gov telling people how to spend their foodstamps.  Now I've heard everything

Cute. Except it's not "their" foodstamps. It's our money. The government can and should place restriction on how tax dollars are spent. Again, I'd be more inclined to a more libertarian "spend it however you want - just don't ask for more" attitude, except that (1) they do ask for more, and (2) we're also paying for their healthcare.

I've said it before and I'll say it again, K-State fans could have beheaded the entire KU team at midcourt, and K-State fans would be celebrating it this morning.  They are the ISIS of Big 12 fanbases.

I would prefer just giving them less total money with no restrictions on what it could be spent on. Everybody wins that way. We save money and they get flexibility.

That's certainly the easier approach. The problem is that we're also paying for their healthcare, and they're developing diabetes in their 30s because they seem to drink more soda than water.

Maybe we should do something to lower healthcare costs, then.

Take it to the Obamacare thread. As in, first step would be to get rid of Obamacare. But living/eating healthier is probably the single best thing you can do to lower your healthcare costs. That's why I support Michelle Obama's school lunch efforts in principle. The problem is that Michelle is being a massive hypocrite in not also targeting food stamps.

I think we could drastically lower healthcare costs by simply making it illegal to sell health insurance and deregulating the industry.

? After the tax cuts became law in January 2013, the number of Kansas’ private sector jobs went up only 2.5 percent through November 2014.

That was below 37 other states (including Missouri) and Washington, D.C.

Put another way, Kansas has gained employment faster than only 12 other states since the tax cuts took effect.
