Author Topic: Is OZ (HBO GO prison show) a good tv show? (Read 5062 times)

I don't know if it is or not. I've watched about 4+ seasons of it and am still not sure. There are some characters I like. Some characters I don't like and I kind of want to see what happens at this point. I'll be honest and admit that I've skipped a few episodes here and there with no negative consequences.

I could be convinced either way that this is a good show or a not good show. You hold my opinion in your hands.

1) Is it a good show?
2) Is it worth finishing?

What should I be watching on HBO GO (already seen Soprano's, GOT, Deadwood)?

I don't think it's a good show. Maybe ahead of its time, but I don't think it's good compared to newer options.

You might enjoy Flight of the Concords

The Newsroom. Series finale was on last night and I thought the whole 3 season series was very well written. Jeff Daniels does an incredible job playing the lead character Will.

I watched the first episode and hated it. I did kind of like West Wing, but more in a Law and Order "its on" type of way. Definitely will not watch.

1. I think this is my exact feeling. I am watching it and I think I am wasting my time, but look at everything I have already invested.

I watched the first season of Rome and really liked it. I stopped watching a few episodes in to the 2nd season.

This is a good suggestion. I am through the first 2 or 3 seasons as I started watching on Amazon Prime and then stopped when the episodes became pay per view.

I enjoy Treme though people tell me The Wire is way better. I have a healthy obsession with New Orleans though so I think that helps. Curb Your Enthusiasm is enjoyable but ultimately not as satisfying as Seinfeld.

Oz was very important to the development of the current TV format, but it was missing "something" to make it great. It's fun to see all the bit characters on it that have been main characters in other series since.

I really enjoyed Generation Kill, its reported to be pretty much the most realistic show ever about modern war.

Very well said.

I'd recommend Silicon Valley and VEEP for sure. True Detective, Newsroom, Band of Brothers/Pacific, all worth watching.

Newsroom is solid, but the forced romance is irritating.

Generation Kill was surprisingly good. Lady KK will like it too if she is into Alexander Skarsgard.

Yes, OZ is good, not great, but good.

Also, you would really like Rome. The production quality is amazing, and the story is good. I also enjoyed Deadwood, but it sort of ended before it's time. If you haven't already watched GOT, then I can't tell you anything you haven't already heard....It's great.
