Friends and Pyramid Schemes

Hello folks,

Fanning here wanting to wish you all a happy holidays and a happy new year.

Anyways, what's with this crap? Through the years i've had a few friends try and proposition me with some "opportunities". One of them was a former K-State kicker who tried to sell me on this gimmick to buy all of your groceries online and to have my friends and family do it too. He tried to make it clear on how well he was doing as he made me pay for my starbucks coffee. 

Last night, I had an old coworker friend come over to our place downtown. I had been dodging him for a few weeks, but finally caved in yesterday, cause I like the guy. He's trying to sell me on this vacation plan where if you become a member and pay a certain amount a month, you can qualify for all these awesome full packaged vacations. Not only that, but if you get 3 others to sign, they'll pay for your monthly membership. I mean, i'm sure this works for some ppl, but I don't have the energy or time to badger close friends and family with this crap.

What gives?!

That's what I was telling him last night. I don't think he liked it. I was also like, I've been on 4 vacations this year, and all I paid for was my entertainment. And he was like "How? Have you been to Alaska yet tho? Cause i'm going there for a week soon!"

If you have a friend interested in that crap, try to talk him/her out of it. Once they get into it, they are gone forever. Just find new friends.

He's a good guy. We all have friends who associate themselves with weird stuff at times. I think he's tired of corporate and he thinks he can make a livelihood of this.

Mrs. CF3 has friends who will host like, essential oils parties and stuff like that, and they invite her and try and sell her junk we don't need. So whenever we receive an invite, we politely decline, and then they quit inviting but we're all still friends. Its pretty easy. Just say "No Thanks, but I hope you succeed with this"

you know who does this stuff a lot? stay at home moms. they should be caring for the kids and managing the frequent flyer and hotel mileage programs not being rubes.

A famous one out there is advocare. An old friend from college called me one day I guess because I used to work at a gym she said and would be perfect and it made me sad because i had already heard it was a scam and it led me to believe she was either dumb or trying to eff me over; either way it was a bad thing.

Anyway, freshman year of college one of my idiot roommates got roped into selling something called Melaleuca.  Typical personal/home care products like lotion, shampoo, landry soap, etc infused with oil from some magical plant from Australia.  I took a little taste of the toothpaste and it was horrible.  One night he sat us down and made a serious pitch for us to join.  We lol'd right in his dumb face and told him to run away from whatever he was doing.  Then we lol'd some more.  He was stunned that we didn't want to join and when the school year was over he moved out and pretty much stopped being friends with us.  Oh well.

i do know an advocare guy, big K-stater, successful engineer; he quit consulting and is now like way high up in the pyramid thing; like super mad cash.

Got my phone blown up once by some rando trying to sell me on the online groceries game.  He said my friend X gave him my contact info.  I called X and gave him a big fat heaping piece of my mind, you bet your ass I did.

When i'm at the store and I see a hott and ready rotisserie chicken ready to go, I want it in my mouth instantly. I don't want for it to be mailed to me and it not be ready.
