Johnson County is pretty boring but jesus christ man that doesn't mean you have to subject your kids to KCMO schools. Just accept social retirement and enjoy your house.

Academy Lafayette is brookside is growing quickly and is a French-centered charter school. There's also Crossroads Academy located downtown. Both are becoming increasingly difficult to get in but you get preferential odds if you live nearby. In the case of Crossroads Academy, those who work OR live between like the Missouri River and Linwood and summit east of the loop get much better odds for the "lottery." Lafayette is pursuing HS options and crossroads is soon to add a middle school program. Both are great options. By the time I really starts to matter for you don't be surprised if there are many more options like these as the consultants brought in by the state BOE have stated that their suggesting for improving KCMO urban core schooling is to break them up and have each school independently operating by not for profit groups. So far, that's been successful despite the locals on the district's board responding VERY defensively to those positions.

Welp, eff the haters. Gonna have a guy check out this old brick building and if it's ok, gonna make an offer.  Kinda doubt it matters tho, the seller is asking way too much. I would need to put in about $70k fixing it up. If I paid around asking price, I'd be upside down on it after renovation. But fingers crossed
