I like to grill sweet peppers.

Where do you get the grill?

[[ note to self ]]- make thread and title it "daris/rick/rick daris". then whenever anyone mentions me or someone else named daris or rick or rick daris then add it to my thread titled "daris/rick/rick daris" and within a few years it will be the monster thread on the entire board and i can quit my job and live off the royalties. [[ note to self ]]

i'm going to bump one of your threads, oh wait.  there aren't any worth bumping and merging.  sorry bud, take notes.  and learn your role.

Why try the new cocobolos sauce when lucha's smoky hot sauce is available?

good point. also, why try the new lucha's sauce when taco bell fire sauce is available? it's kind of like i just walked into my sisters daycare and i'm being forced to bbs with all of the kids that are there because they aren't in kindergarten yet. so weird.

good point. also, maybe i'll just start a bunch of threads titled green beans, peas, potatoes, cauliflower, beats, carrots, corn, soybeans, tomatoes, celery, okra, fava bean and asparagus. then if anybody ever mentions any of those in a post then boom! jackpot darisville! build another skyskraper! good lord jackass get a life.

I'm going to avoid saying anything against the selections here but damn. Hatch green chile. Numero uno. Best you will taste. But you are probably used to pablanos for rellenos. I'll even give you Sandia's as a second choice but if you don't know the difference between green peppers and green chile than you are missing out. Just can't be beat.

no.

This. While it is true they derive their name from their location, they are completely different. You won't usually look up a chile chart and find them. But if you ever get the chance to try them you will taste the difference. Can be grown at different heat levels from mild to extremely hot, but it is the flavor that really separates them.  :lick: Have a freezer stocked full of them right now. A necessity when you make hamburgers.

they had a monster pile of them at the hyvee by my house one time and I bought a bunch and then couldn't figure out what to do with them.  do you, like, grill them and put them on the burger?

left for a week vacation with some fast growing bell about to turn red (and with some up and coming jalaps, but birds went apeshit on each fruit ) left for a friend to water and pluck if ready. when i return, basically all fruits are to the side of the garden, rotting on ground. friend proclaims that "he got rid of the gross ones."

I've made a 6 pepper salad before. red, green, yellow, orange, jalaps, and any type of chile pepp, with some mango, onion, and cucumber. great with chicken or tilapia.

I put Banana Pepper on every sandwich I can. Goes really well with spicy brown mustard.

Typically you will grill/roast them and peel the skins off. Then either dice them up or just throw them on top of the burger or chicken sandwich as is. I like to use them in shredded beef for burritos, tacos, etc. Great for making true chile rellenos or green chile enchiladas. Make a roast and toss them bad boys in with the veggies diced up. Their pretty versatile and great in a lot of dishes. I typically buy a 40 lb. bag every year at harvest time, have them roast them in their big tumbly roaster things, take them home all hot, peel them and then throw 'em all in the freezer. Ready for use any time of the year. Any time my family comes down to visit they usually steal a bunch to take back since it's hard to even find canned green chile in the KC area. Big Jims are good as well. Just different variety.

i wouldn't plant the common peppers that are readily available in every grocery store.  just an honest & humble imho.

Great advice here.  Kind of had a life altering pepper experience Tuesday when I bought one jalapeno and it rang up at 8 cents.

HyVee is awesome...most of the time if you get a small one, it won't ring up....so you get it for FREE.   (Mods, please move to the Sticking it to the Man thread)

Yea, my girlfriend was all excited to have a jalapeno plant because I cook with peppers all the time.  She was like "you don't have to get them from the grocery store all the time."  When I told her they were like $1 for a dozen, I really took the pep out of her step
